Just finished the first meeting with my team. I am glad, just as you are, to have Billy back on campus! This is a great group of guys who will play for one another (because thats who they are), ultra competitive, with a will to win. If we are not a great defensive team I haven’t done my job! We are physical, should be a great shot blocking team (at all 5 positions) and we have dogs! LETS GOOO
Was gonna save this for tomorrow but it’s late and now I can’t sleep lol. Rapid reactions to the season:
1) Billy and Knox grew up as the season went on and will be two awesome players to build around next year. Different skill sets, but two certified dudes.
2) Davis and Aidoo needed to get healthy, and when they did, they looked like the players they wanted to be and that fans wanted them to be in the offseason. Huge reason for the success down the stretch.
3) Wagner stepped up in a major way when Fland went down and righted the ship. No single play tonight can take away the impact he had on the rest of the season. He was a major, major reason for the turnaround. The Hogs aren’t in the Tournament without his performance the second half of the year.
4) Year one of Cal was up, then down, and then up again. Ending the season on a sour note with the way they lost, but on a high note by exceeding expectations. A strong recruiting class coming in (potentially not finished) and a portal haul looming with players to retain, and I think all is well in Fayetteville.
5) Brazile. Man. So happy for him and how he stepped up the final weeks. That’s the TB Arkansas fans knew and loved and it was great to see him back to that.
6) Big Z struggled a bit late in the year after a strong middle portion. He needs his shot to fall more consistently for him to impact the game the way the team needs.
7) Thiero was a warrior all year. Didn’t look 100% and probably out of shape with the injury today, but before the injury was a complete warrior and battled to get back out there with his team.
8) Fland was crucial in his return in the NCAAT. Didn’t force his old role but played within the new system that had been working. Selfless player.
9) Regular season expectations were somewhat met. The 0-5 start kept the predictions from being right, but finished just short of .500 and earned an NCAAT berth. The S16 appearance pushed it over the edge.
10) Scholarships move to 15 next season. Arkansas will have a handful of departures and will fill them. Next year’s roster will be even better and deeper than this one.
11) Cal proved he hasn’t lost his fastball. A Hall of Famer doesn’t forget how to coach, and I will standby this season being one of his best coaching jobs.
12) Non-con proved pretty weak with how bad Miami ended up being. Need to fix that next year.
13) Four out of the last five Sweet Sixteens is pretty damn good.
Listen. #1 How have I let this happen to a dear cousin? #cousinfail #2 I legit laughed so hard at this comment. #3 lets get together soon and watch an HP marathon
Elementary students, particularly in K to 2, may be a little worried at being surrounded by adults in masks, so calming strategies will be helpful.

Leaders, be careful about surrounding yourself with people who always agree with everything you say. Although it is comfortable, it is dangerous because professional push back is what drives an organization (or a country) forward. #JoyfulLeaders
