Let’s be honest about how Apple works:
You pay 30% just to exist on the platform
And your app can disappear overnight
That’s not a partnership — that’s dependency
Tim Cook: "I need your 30% money for FREE as monopoly tax"
Cal AI was saving $12M+ with Stripe... Apple saw one tweet and nuked the whole $50M app.
damn...$15 MILLION was going straight to Apple every single year.
This is the App Store in 2026
You can now enable Claude to use your computer to complete tasks.
It opens your apps, navigates your browser, fills in spreadsheets—anything you'd do sitting at your desk.
Research preview in Claude Cowork and Claude Code, macOS only.
@amasad Would love to bring Replit and other “vibe coding” apps on @Onside_io, alternative store for iOS.
Doesn’t really look like a product issue — this stuff has been around for years. Feels more like control
Spent Nyepi in Bali — 24 hours where the entire island just stops.
No flights. No lights. No noise.
Even the airport shuts down.
From a product perspective it’s wild. Whole system going into “zero mode” by design.
The idea is simple: start the new year from emptiness so nothing bad has a reason to stay
Apple isn’t really optimizing for product — it’s about control.
For users web apps vs native apps don’t feel that different. But for a gatekeeper web apps are a problem — they can change without review.
That’s exactly why alternative app stores should be available worldwide.
@lutherlowe Totally agree.
Even in the EU, where alternative stores are technically allowed, Apple still reviews apps distributed through them with no SLA.
So it’s not just about allowing alternative stores. It’s about making them actually competitive with the App Store.
Flight to Dubai got cancelled.
Rebooked to Singapore.
Same 18 hours. Different part of the world.
Feels like travel in 2026 is basically just picking a direction
All flights to and from Dubai have been temporarily suspended.
Please do not go to the airport.
Emirates will share updates when available. We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and patience.
The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority and will not be compromised.
The SFO → DXB flight is kind of insane.
13,000 km.
18 hours.
Direct.
You take off in California and basically spend a full day in the air before landing in Dubai. Makes the world feel both huge and strangely small at the same time
Really enjoyed my time in SF.
Pros:
- everyone is buzzing about AI, agents, and “changing the world”
- lots of bright people and good friends around
- such a beautiful city with amazing nature nearby
Cons:
- jet lag completely destroyed me for almost a week
- pretty hard to work productively with a team based in Europe
