@drewlevin@HommyAG you are trying to make the game more accessible, everyone can understand that. We all want the game to continue, and numbers arenโt looking great for younger people and league of legends. But you know deep down the amount of champs in game are the real hurdle for new players.
@LoLMidorima Serious answer but will be controversial, answer is Canyon.
Main replacements I would look for are Oner, Tarzan, Inspired, Skewmond.
Korean glazers will hate but Inspired and Skewmond are arguably in the conversation for best jungle in the world
@JamadaLoL What do you expect Riot to do? Pay out $100 million to tell the teams to fuck off, or tell teams franchising is over and the millions they paid to get into the league is flushed down the toilet, opening themselves up to a lawsuit?
@karonmoser@dekkar44 Without trying what? Where is this money coming from?
You keep saying they need to try โthingsโ but you also donโt have the answers and are sitting here defending the fact that right now viewers give up NOTHING. They pay nothing, they buy no mercy, they donโt watch ads.
@karonmoser@dekkar44 And also i might point out, im of the opinion that esports is doomed unless these core issues are fixed. Owning an org will eventually just be reduced to owning a hobby. Not an actual business. Maybe we deserve to die in a fire.
@karonmoser@dekkar44 Another way to look at it is to look at the numbers for say, an apparel brand.
How many units of clothes do you think it would take to generate 5-10 million in SALES.
Now add in all your underlying costs for your esports org. Do you think you have a profitable business?
@karonmoser@dekkar44 Sports entertainment companies have historically made most of their money off of two categories
Broadcast deals
Ticketing/concessions
esports has neither of those. Do you think nfl nba mlb would as big as they are if they faced the same problem with their merch sales?
@karonmoser@dekkar44 Merch can be bigger sure, but fundamentally the issues lie with the devs, AND the viewers.
Devs donโt want to paywall their games, give up their revenue secrets for micro transactions, or introduce more โadultโ sponsors.
Viewers donโt want to pay a dime to support their teams.
@JJ03massive@prose00999@LinkofSunshine@Mirs_____ Not really no. They did cause major controversy, because the United States forced a stock purchase that gave control of the company over to the federal government, essentially bailing out the company completely. After this happened, contracts forced the company to pay out execs.
@prose00999@LinkofSunshine@Mirs_____ Kind of, but they leave out AIGโs role in the crisis.
They were the biggest player that caused the shitshow and eventual result of bailouts.
@prose00999@LinkofSunshine@Mirs_____ Short version
banks lend to unqualified people
banks package these mortgages and sell to bigger banks
big banks realize they can make more money off these shit loans by insuring them
AIG insures them
Housing collapses, AIG canโt pay big banks
Big banks fucked
