I started my mutual funds journey in 2018 with just 30,000 naira monthly. Honestly it was a joke. I wanted to save for one year and use the money for December groove.
Then I saw how well it was growing and I stopped playing.
Mid 2023 I increased to 50,000 monthly. Last month I increased to 100,000 monthly. I currently have over 9 million naira sitting and compounding.
If I continue with 100,000 monthly for the next 12 years, that becomes approximately 143 million naira. But I am planning to increase to 200,000 monthly from January next year. If I stay consistent for 12 years, I will be sitting on approximately 430 million naira from a total deposit of just 28.8 million naira.
I am sharing this not to show off but to motivate you. When you see me in 12 years sitting on hundreds of millions, it would be even better knowing you are doing well for yourself too.
I am not a businessman. All my life I have worked and invested. If I can build this from 30,000 naira monthly, you can start with whatever you have right now.
Please, I beg you. Start now. 🙏
Above all, love God.
I was supposed to have at least 78 million naira from my mutual fund investment in 10 years, but I decided to make it 145 million naira by raising my monthly investment from 50,000 naira to 100,000 naira.
You all remember how I started this.
30,000 naira monthly in 2018. I increased it to 50,000 naira in 2023. So far I have deposited about 3.5 million naira and I currently have almost 5 million naira sitting in that account from interest alone. The interest has already exceeded what I put in.
I raised my monthly contribution from 50,000 to 100,000 naira. At that rate, in 12 years I will be looking at approximately 145 million naira. Most of it being interest I never worked for.
Why am I telling you this?
Because I started this with what most people waste. That 30,000 naira I committed to in 2018 was a small, quiet decision that nobody clapped for. Today it is compounding into something that will change my life permanently.
You still have time. Whatever amount you can start with today, start. Compound interest does not care how small you begin. It only cares that you begin.
The only investment you will regret is the one you never made.
Above all, love God.
I get money for anything you wanna eat and drink when you come over
I get money for taking US out to places I wanna see as well
I get money for affording soft lifestyle for myself( you can tag)
I no get money for wigs, to change your phone or your family issue, or back to back craving or clubbing for Snapchat aesthetics!!
I'll give you just 3 financial updates. Take them seriously.
1. Forget about building a house for now. That should be the least of your worries. That 50 to 100 million naira you want to waste on building can set you up for life. Even if you are not good at business or investing, simply put the money in Money Market Funds (MMF). You can do this through your bank or fintech apps like Opay, PalmPay, Cowrywise, and PiggyVest, where you can earn up to 20% annually. If you invest 100 million, you will earn 20 million naira every year while still keeping full access to your capital.
2. Save 30% of your income every single month and invest it consistently. Even If you earn as low as 100k naira monthly and save 30k, that is 360k in the first year. Put it in MMF or government securities and keep adding every month. Repeat this discipline for 10 years. With current double-digit returns, you will not have less than 8 million naira and you can easily cross 10 million if rates stay strong.
3. If you can afford a small car, buy one, maintain it properly, and use it for mobility and business. Stop attending important meetings and presenting proposals on bike or keke. A car puts you two steps ahead immediately.
Bonus tip: Instead of buying one land for 10 million and spending 100 million to build a house on it, buy 11 pieces of land. Do proper due diligence, surveillance, and documentation, then leave them for 5 to 10 years to appreciate. You could easily make nothing less than 500 million from that move.
Above all, love God.
One man came to the office furious.
He said money was “disappearing” from his business and he was sure one of his staff was stealing.
He had already decided who the thief was.
Quiet girl. Always the last to leave.
We checked the records.
Sales were correct.
Expenses were normal.
Then we saw it.
Every evening he transferred “small money” from the business account to his personal account.
₦20k here.
₦35k there.
₦15k sometimes.
After 4 months, it added up to over ₦1.2 million.
The business wasn’t leaking.
He was the leak.
The quiet girl kept her job.
But the owner learned something painful that day.
Small daily habits can sink a business faster than one big mistake.
I had a friend.
Sharp guy.
Hustling, building, always had something in the works. But his problem was simple... he loved to talk before he did things or before the deals were done.
He told his boys about the land he was about to buy before he paid the deposit. Two weeks later, someone close to him quietly moved on that same plot. He found out after the papers were signed.
He told people about a contract he was negotiating. Someone in that same circle knew the other party. The numbers got back to them. He lost his leverage and had to accept less than he deserved.
He told a mutual friend his relationship was on shaky at the moment... That same friend slid into his woman's DMs with "I'm here if you need to talk." She didn't leave him for the guy... but something shifted.
Something that never fully came back.
None of these people were his enemies. That's the part that should frighten you. They were people who ate at his table, laughed at his jokes, called him brother.
Information is power... and when you hand it to people freely, you are giving them power over your life that they never earned.
A man who talks too much hands people the blueprint to his downfall... your dreams are not content.
Your struggles are not gist.
Your next move is not a preview.
Guard your life like it depends on it... because it does.

Some financial problems are not caused by low income.
They are caused by expensive social pressure.

My first week in the UK, I went to a Tesco store to buy a few things. I picked toothpaste, body oil, lubricant and big mayonnaise.
I got a bag and, after putting the items inside, the bag suddenly tore and the mayonnaise broke.
The first thing that ran through my mind was:
“Chai… so I will have to pay for another one again?” 😪😭
While I was still deep in my sapa thoughts, about 2–3 staff members rushed to me saying:
“Oh my darling.”
“You alright?”
“Bless you, my lovely.”
“Are you hurt?”
“Do I need to ring 999?”
“Do you need medical attention?”
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
I was so confused like… what exactly is going on here? At the same time, I felt like a spoiled toddler being over-pampered.
Then one of the staff members rushed to the aisle and replaced everything I bought. I mean everything.
Water first Comot for my eyes 😭😭
In those moments I remembered my dear country….
If you’ve never travelled outside Nigeria, you might not understand how much we are actually suffering in that ZOO. 😔
