#NationSalutesSmit | World leaders have hailed Captain Smit Machchhar, the Indian flydubai pilot who was stabbed in the cockpit and still opened the door so passengers could overpower the attacker. US President Donald Trump and a US congressman are among those who praised him. PM Modi spoke to him on a video call, and Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu said "Everyone across the world is proud of him".

But despite praise pouring in for the brave captain from all over the world, why is Rahul Gandhi silent?

MUST WATCH: Captain Smit Machchhar, the FlyDubai pilot who saved the lives of 174 passengers after being stabbed by his copilot, did a video call with India PM Narendra Modi.

0:43 Modi: "We Indians are not people who take lives. We are people who save lives."
1:03 Modi: "In that moment, you didn't care about your own life. You cared about the lives of all the passengers."
2:18 Machchhar: "In that moment, sir, I was fighting for my life. But there was a moment when I realized: if I didn't do something… Because I had already given up on life. I had taken so many wounds, I was down on the floor. And even then, I said: if I don't get up… I've been flying for 17 years. I've been a captain for the last 11 years. Even with my eyes closed, I can tell what's happening in the plane. When I was down on the floor, I could feel that the plane was going down."
3:00 Machchhar: "And I knew for sure: this is the last push. 'Smit, do it. The door.' That's all it was. And even then, I was still taking blows. I just got it open, sir, and the others came forward. And everyone else had just as big a role in it."
3:21 Machchhar: "I knew I was doing it at the risk of my own life. But at the same time, I also knew I couldn't watch them all die."
4:01 Machchhar: "Now I know that Gd saved me."
8:23 Modi: "Today is Gandhi Jayanti [Gandhi's Birthday]. You have lived and shown the world what non-violence is."

Hero.

I am an Indian,
and everyone says I lack civic sense.

They can overturn cars, burn streets,
and vandalize a city after a championship game.
I dance at an airport excited about my first foreign trip, and suddenly I am the face of poor civic sense.

I am an Indian,
and everyone says I steal jobs.

They move factories across oceans,
shift profits through tax havens,
and automate entire industries overnight.
I study, compete, earn a visa, work 18 hours a day, sometimes multiple jobs and somehow I am the one stealing jobs and scamming the system.

I am an Indian,
and everyone says I am everywhere.

I build your software,
treat your illness,
teach your children,
drive your taxis,
and open your stores.
The world became a village,
yet my presence remains a problem.

I am an Indian,
and everyone says I am too loud.

The evening news screams outrage.
Political rallies shake entire cities.
The internet echoes with anger day and night.
I celebrate a wedding, a festival, a victory,
and I am told my joy is too loud.

I am an Indian,
and everyone says I smell of curry.

The world smells of gunpowder,
of hatred,
of division,
of endless arguments about race and religion.
I carry the fragrance of spices from my grandmother's kitchen,
and somehow that is what offends.

I am an Indian,
and everyone says I have no culture.

I come from a civilization that counted the stars
when much of the world was still learning maps.
I speak languages older than nations.
I celebrate hundreds of traditions,
yet I am told I have no culture.

I am an Indian,
and everyone says I am backward.

I send missions to the Moon.
I build vaccines for millions.
I run companies across continents.
Yet a viral video of one fool becomes evidence against a billion people.

I am an Indian,
and everyone says I worship celebrities.

I celebrate my favorite actor's success
with flowers, music, and a few glasses of milk.

Others worship influencers who sell outrage, turn every disagreement into a battlefield, and every opinion into a war.
Yet my celebration is the one that makes headlines.

I am an Indian,

and everyone says I gather in crowds.

We walk together in processions,
celebrating our faith, our culture, our traditions.

Everyone is welcome.
No shops are looted.
No neighborhoods are burned.
No one is threatened for thinking differently.

We sing.
We dance.
We pray.
And somehow our gathering becomes the problem.

I am an Indian,

and everyone says I bring my culture everywhere.

I light a lamp in a foreign land.
I wear a saree in the snow.
I teach my children the language of their grandparents.

Others build walls between neighbors,
argue endlessly over identity,
and forget where they came from.
Yet I am told I should leave my culture behind.

I am an Indian,

and everyone says I live in the past.

But my past gave me yoga,
mathematics, philosophy, meditation,
and the idea that the world is one family.

The future keeps borrowing from my past,
while telling me to be embarrassed by it.

I am an Indian,
and everyone says I should be ashamed.

Ashamed of my accent.
Ashamed of my food.
Ashamed of my festivals.
Ashamed of my traditions.
Ashamed of existing.

But I am not ashamed.

I am the child of farmers and philosophers,
scientists and saints, workers and dreamers.

I come from a land that taught the world
that truth can be many-sided,
that all paths deserve respect,
and that the entire world is one family.

Yes, we have flaws. Every nation does.

But judge me by my actions, not by your stereotypes.

For I am an Indian.

And before you tell me what is wrong with me, look honestly at what you have normalized in yourself.

For I am an Indian.

The world may mock my accent,
question my customs,
laugh at my celebrations,
and judge me through a thousand stereotypes.

Yet I stand tall.
For I belong to a civilization older than empires, a culture richer than prejudice, and a people whose spirit refuses to bend.

What has changed in India in last 12 years.....

[Ministry of Culture @MinOfCultureGoI]

This 4,500-year-old terracotta dice from the Indus-Saraswati Civilization is a powerful reminder of India’s living heritage. Dicing is also mentioned as a popular game in Rig and Atharva Vedas (two of the four sacred Vedic scriptures).

From symbols and craftsmanship to rituals, yogic practices, and collective memory, numerous elements of ancient Indian civilization continue to thrive in the daily social and religious life of Indian society across regions and communities.

Civilizational inheritance is not just about geography or ruins, it is defined by living customs, symbols, rituals, and unbroken cultural consciousness. India is the enduring living continuity of the Indus-Saraswati Civilization.

Benefits of living as a Hindu
- Joy Mathew, Kerala movie actor

_No need to go to learn religion from childhood.

_No strict rules on what to do, what not to do, or how to live...

_No need to wear a cap...
No need for circumcision...
No need to get baptized...

_No need to wake up early and go to the temple... Only those with faith need to go.

_When you feel like going, you can go to any temple without checking caste, language, or worship rituals.

_Even if you go or don’t go, the temple priest or committee members won’t glare at you...

_Won’t be branded as someone without fear of God... Won’t be excommunicated... Won’t be condemned to a “rogue’s grave” when dead...

_No need for a good conduct certificate from religious heads to get married...
No need for recommendation letters...

_No one goes to the temple to inquire “what kind of guy he is”... The bride’s family won’t check if he’s a religious believer...

_No one checks if the girl is a religious believer, a “916 Hindu”, or lives by Hindu customs...

_You can live peacefully with one or two children as you wish.

_Since there’s no ban on drinking alcohol, no need to go crazy using ganja or drugs.

_You can watch movies, dance, sing — with no restrictions.

_You can lend money at interest, or borrow it.

_You can vote for anyone, live however you want... no rules...

_No scaring about the afterlife.

_No need to waste a lifetime dreaming of rivers of wine and hooris. No need to fear being made firewood in hell...

_From creation to the structure of the universe — nothing here is against modern science.

_If you have time and study the Vedas, you can answer any atheist’s question.

_No separate laws for women...
No special prohibitions for women...

_If a woman dances, no crowd will gather to abuse her... They’ll clap and encourage her...

_From childhood, send her for dance... send her for music... send her for sports...

_No need to cover the face or head. Can wear clothes of choice...

_No separate dining area for her... No bans in crowds... no rules... no prohibitions...

_You can pray to the God of any religion. Can hang a star, set up a crib, celebrate any festival,

_Even if you don’t get them in return, you can send Christmas, Easter, Eid, Nabi Day wishes to friends. No one will question you;

_And you don’t have to fear anyone to share this!

Pleasant, beautiful, peaceful, free... Life as you like!!

_If asked “Do you have a religion?” — Yes... If asked “Don’t you have a religion?” — No.

Missed one thing...
No need to fight for a spot in the cemetery for the funeral... Just need some firewood.

A joyous moment for every Indian!

Chola Copper Plates dating back to the 11th Century will be repatriated to India from the Netherlands. Took part in the ceremony for the same in the presence of Prime Minister Rob Jetten.

The Chola Copper Plates are a set of 21 large plates and 3 small plates and largely contain texts in Tamil, one of the most beautiful languages of the world. They relate to the great Rajendra Chola I formalising an oral commitment made by his father, King Rajaraja I. They also showcase the greatness of the Cholas. We in India are immensely proud of the Cholas, their culture and their maritime prowess.

I thank the Government of the Netherlands and Leiden University in particular, where the Copper Plates were kept since the mid-19th century.

1 extra kg of baggage and airline bills you exorbitantly. But 4 hours of flight delay and airline owes you nothing.

Airlines track your baggage weight to the gram. Why don’t they value your time to the hour?

If they can charge you by the gram, they must compensate you by the hour.

Today in Parliament, I asked the Civil Aviation Minister whether they are working towards a compensation framework for passengers affected by significant flight delays!

Every devotee carries a Dharmic responsibility!

Let us come out of the slumber and convenience of an average Hindu mind, where there is a fear of God and respect for faith. However, when someone desecrates Hindu Gods or mocks our Dharma, we often feel hurt in private, leave it to karma, and move on.

This must change

Though we may be divided by caste, creed, region, and language, the Dharma is one and the Gods remain the same. It is indeed our duty to voice our pain when our Dharma and faith are deliberately mocked with malicious intent.

Silence in such moments weakens the collective conscience.

Beyond being devotees, we must also act as conscious guardians of our faith.

Protecting Hindu Dharma does not mean being against other faiths. It simply means safeguarding one’s own.
