@grok@betastuff1999@wholemars@Mikekantorski Did you read it?
“In geofenced areas.”
Not L4 with no restrictions.
Mercedes used to advertise “hands free” driving.
But it was under specific conditions in certain areas.
@prageru Short version:
USA pharma spends billions to make drug A
To make a profit, they need to charge $Y
Country Z in Europe says they will not pay $Y
It must be $Y-40%
Drug companies must comply
USA invents stuff
Chinese copies the stuff
Europe litigates the stuff to death
Repeat….
@betastuff1999@wholemars@Mikekantorski It sounds like you think Waymo is L4?
Ask it to drive you around the country.
This is a cutting edge science.
You want the roll outs to work so you must be super cautious.
@wholemars Very bad thing……
For all those many instances where you are driving at night with the lights turned off.
Or car electricity dies on you so the lights go off but the car keeps running.
Happens to you all the time?
Here is my confusion:
People say that FSD is a product of machine miles driven. You need the huge database to solve all the issues.
Tesla,with all their million of miles driven, are just now getting to FSD with Austin RoboTsxis.
So how does Rivian get there so quick?
Or do they….?
@wholemars I once heard Dr X of AutoX talk about this in early days.
He said using lidar will get you to market first but, in the end, everyone will go to visual because that is what the whole world was built for.
The argument for the current “little ads” is the following:
1) People do want the cars. Best selling car on earth 2033.
2) Cars need to be financed.
3) Interest rates are too high.
So big ad money spending does not solve the problem.
Solution: pour all your money into the new unboxed production line and a very low cost model.
@squawksquare@GerberKawasaki Squawk, we all know the rule:
Nobody is allowed on CNBC unless they know in advance that you are going to piss all over Tesla.
The only exception is Ron Baron who has more money than god & can’t be ignored.
Gary Black sometimes if they think they can twist his words.
@elonmusk@alex_avoigt The media will speak kindly of anyone that repeats their talking points.....and they will pay the price.
EXACT quote from Bloomberg News today:
"SpaceX Loses Starship on Approach to Space in Test Flight"
I'm living in Alice in Wonderland at the Mad Hatters Tea Party.
@GerberKawasaki That's part of the reason Cathy thinks the FED will drop interest rates soon. The least painful way to rescue the bad mortgages. Unfortunately, BKs will hurt smaller banks the hardest.
With FSD, you are creating something that has never been created before and it is not easy for even the best minds we have. In order to do the job we need the enthusiasm of the public and we need tremendous processing power.
Many people think Mid to late 2024 when Dojo becomes the biggest computer on the planet.
You seem to think it is a manufacturing problem and we just need to add an extra shift of workers.
It seems like we need to address two van models?:
1) People carriers.
2) Business delivery van.
Rivian is on the right track but FSD may obviate the steering wheel.
IMO, best to use resources to create and scale $25K car which needs a driver right now and then go to the 2 vans with no steering wheel.
Why is GM up today and TSLA down today?
For those that are media challanged:
Jim Cramer has a TV show called Mad Money.
It targets retail stock buyers (like us) and is popular.
It gets 100,000 viewers each show.
Yesterday and today Cramer took a ride in a GM self driving taxi in San Francisco and he interviewed the CEO while taking the ride.
Super positive review over 2 shows and the ad value had to be through the roof. Nothing but positive.
GM also got to show its driverless van - a model that they will announce shortly. Very impressive.
We may win in the end but they sure are crushing FSD now and we are at zero.
@elonmusk@ianmiles Media controls politicians (say what I think is a bad word and I will poison pen you out of office).
Politicians control schools (We write the laws).
Everybody repeats the meme of the day which is just made up by the press to get clicks.
@JohnnaCrider1 Impossible.
Journalism was never alive.
Core problem: We never created a business model for a journalist. They are just ad sales people.
