@RyanTClarke Are we really surprised by any of this at this point? Scott Barnes is a joke. Never held accountable for any of his actions. Whether you think Bray was HC material or not, he was set up to fail. Appears Shep is being set up to fail as well. He has his work cut out for him.
@Johill_13 But again… she can say she backs Barnes. So what power does a fan have in response? They say… fine, you don’t get my money until you make some major changes. It’s all a business when it comes down to it and we’re the consumer.
@Johill_13 I’m aware she has. And I’ve been saying she should be held responsible for this disaster as well. Those two were big proponents in this whole Rebuild the PAC movement and look what it got us… they made OSU martyrs and they built a lesser version of the MWC.
@Johill_13 From a fans perspective, the only power they have is their money and viewership. People stop showing up, spending money, etc and that becomes a huge problem for the Athletics Department and change takes place.
@Johill_13 It’s far more complex than that. To say our fan base sucks as if we’re the only ones who would react this way is silly. It’s their job to put a product on the field the fans feel is worth paying for and they’re not doing that.
@Johill_13 We freaking suck as a fan base? News flash… this is what happens when your AD is a complete mess and fails his Department and this program. This would happen at any school going through this. Also… how else does a fan base show the higher ups that this is unacceptable?
@JaydonGrant Amen. Too many fans are overreacting to him leaving… or how he left. It was a crazy time with the conference falling apart and can’t blame any of those guys for leaving. Didn’t like how it happened but the blame should be directed at Barnes. I’d take Smith back in a heartbeat!
@AngieMachado1 When it rains, it pours. How many of you are realizing tonight that Bray wasn’t necessarily the problem? I won’t pretend he was HC material, but this goes deeper than a HC problem. It won’t matter who the HC is because Barnes has set everyone up for failure for years to come.
@buildth3DAM No… she doesn’t. She’s part of the problem. She and Barnes both played a role in this whole rebuild the PAC movement. She should fire him but won’t. Unfortunately, Barnes played his cards at the right time by firing Bray. Now he can claim that he made an adjustment.
@michaelwiser@ImmaculateView What a breath of fresh air. So many of the fans let their emotions cloud their judgement. I too was upset with Smith leaving and how he left, but do not blame him. The writing was on the wall with the conference falling apart and OSU getting left behind. I’d welcome him back.
@Jadenrobinson_4 Completely agree with you and other former players saying the same thing but tell us who should be fired in your opinion. Air it out! Fire Scott Barnes!
Trent Bray was not the issue. Firing him instead of a coordinator looks like a CYA move for Scott Barnes. You fire Gunderson and let Bray ride out the year. Bray is a Beaver legend. Nothing about this changes that. I don't celebrate him being fired. He never had a chance with the lack of support he received from a bloated Athletic Department.
I must reiterate that Scott Barnes and his staff will not provide the adequate support needed to run a successful program. He must be removed. He can not be allowed to select the next staff.
@22pecoman 100%!! Everyone blames Smith for leaving, Bray for not being HC material, etc. but how come Scott Barnes is not held responsible for any of the decisions that have led to this? We’re simply seeing the effects and dominoes fall based on his decisions.
@BelligeBeavs@johncanzanobft@PeteThamel Bray was not viewed as a band aid. Maybe in his first year with the conference falling apart, but not now. If he was a band aid, he wouldn’t be taking the brunt of the responsibility. I completely agree regarding Barnes though. Hold him responsible and fire him!
