A big thank you to our 210 medical laboratory team members for their unwavering dedication to high-quality care.
🔬Each year, this skilled team conducts approximately 3.6 million tests—playing a vital role in helping clinicians move from symptoms to accurate diagnoses.
Doug Ford's Bill 60 will bring us closer to a US-style private health care system - where health care costs are the leading cause of bankruptcy, and millions are underinsured.
I will do everything in my power to protect our publicly-funded, publicly-delivered health care system.
Today, I introduced the Health Professionals' Week Act, 2023.
If passed, this bill will proclaim the third week of June as a week to honour and recognize the contributions of all health professionals, while exposing young people to these rewarding careers.

"We shut down Ontario once before, and we'll do it again!" -@JPHornick, expressing @OPSEU solidarity with Ontario's nurses and health-care professionals. #SupportNurses#OnPoli
Feb 13 2003, @OPSEU Hospital Professionals made history & won better staffing & patient care.
20yrs later, hospitals are in crisis. Privatiz'n will make it worse. @fordnation & @sylviajonesmpp public hospitals need more staff & $$; not less. #RightToFight https://t.co/14rUutQOdi
Today the Ford gov't ignored the health care staffing crisis and cost of living crisis.
The rainy day is right now for burnt out health care workers, people facing waits for health care and people struggling to pay for basics. #onpoli#onlab https://t.co/IaRWCYUSWB
Ontario is not going to solve the hospital staffing crisis with private, for-profit contracts.
OPSEU/SEFPO hospital professionals call on the Ford gov't to work collaboratively with them on solutions in the public hospital system. #onpoli

.@OPSEU to @Fordnation: Privatization will not solve the health care staffing crisis. It will create a parallel system that will rob Peter to pay Paul. #ONPoli https://t.co/UV76hlQqI5
Hold on to your wallet: Inflation jumps to 8.1 per cent https://t.co/Ex3K5GoEKi via @StCatStandard@opseu how do we retain and attract young workers to serve in health care and other public sectors with 1% limits thanks -no thanks to @fordnation ? Repeal bill 124!
@fordnation@samoosterhoff it is simple: repeal Bill 124 and allow wage increases to be fairly negotiated for all. Seems like female dominated professions are bearing the brunt of bill 124 @OPSEU hospital professionals deserve better too.
"Their increase is going to be more than 1%, it's not going to be through the roof but it's going to be very fair to everyone."

RVP Sara Labelle, Labour Shortages resolution: "Medical lab technologists did 75,000 tests a day on top of regular work. Our employers didn’t hire a single techologist to do the extra work! We volunteered to do it. We did it without the support of governments."

As Biomedical Engineering Week draws to a close, I’m reminded of the great honour I had @niagarahealth sharing stories of the many disciplines in a hospital who support patient care. So many dedicated teams performing vital work. Learn about the biomedical engineering team ⬇️
Thank you to all medical laboratory professionals in OPSEU/SEFPO and across Canada. We see you, we stand with you, and we will always fight for you. #LabWeek https://t.co/7B3vWxKbpH
