@StephenNolan I’m sending you some posts on the growing graffiti problem that is engulfing the Belfast community (incl South Belfast) Would you consider raising this in your show?
@garymckeown@BelfastLive@belfastcc Excellent, hopefully this will be brought back to committee and it gets approved. The graffiti issue is just so bad now. I counted graffiti on about 95% of light posts between Stranmillis and the bottom of the Ravenhill Road. Very depressing.
@garymckeown I just saw in @BelfastLive that you proposed a motion to @belfastcc in March 2023 for the development of a central hub for members of the public to report graffiti. Did the motion get support? If yes, what is happening as a result?
@garymckeown@markhiggins83@Irish182@belfastcc@PaulaJaneB@JakeOKane That’s fine @garymckeown I think residents all want to live in a reasonably neat environment. That doesn’t seem to much to ask for. But it’s pretty obvious that there are some (probably) young louts out there who are holding us all to ransom. Gary, what can we as residents do?
@belfastcc@PaulaJaneB@garymckeown@JakeOKane Welcome to ‘beautiful’ Belfast. As a rate payer, I am completely fed up with the level of graffiti in the south Belfast/Stranmillis areas (not to mention other areas). Let’s get serious about this problem & try to resolve it.
@garymckeown@markhiggins83@Irish182@belfastcc@PaulaJaneB@JakeOKane@garymckeown I don’t think anyone is trying to misrepresent you. I was reaching out to see if there is a way to tackle this problem rather than just keep cleaning up the mess. If you have any ideas about how we can all work together to address this problem, that would be great.
@EamonnHolmes and @EamonnMallie my colleagues and I would like to meet with you both if that were possible to talk about how we might join forces to tackle the graffiti problem in South Belfast/Stranmillis/Ormeau Road area. It’s getting completely out of control.

@ballantinejoan@belfastcc@PaulaJaneB@garymckeown@JakeOKane the problem has spread to parks, it’s on the bins, street lights, every utility box, kerb stones, shops shutters, post boxes, street signs, sides of shops/houses, bridges and still we fail to catch them or clean it. Clean the kings bridge wait 48 hrs and you’d catch them

@ballantinejoan@markhiggins83@belfastcc@PaulaJaneB@garymckeown@JakeOKane@PSNIBelfastS There are a few black spots continually targeted yet consistently ignored, as has been suggested, either a simple covert operation in particular areas or a no of well placed cameras. The cost of solving the problem must easily outweigh the prohibited cost of continually cleaning
@ClaireHanna what can we do about this growing problem? If you have any advice please let us know. @StephenNolan would you consider doing a feature on your show about the graffiti issue in Belfast? It’s got completely out of control and no one seems to be doing anything about it!
