Approved under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi, this landmark initiative marks a decisive step towards unlocking India’s vast offshore hydrocarbon potential and strengthening the nation’s long-term energy security.

By accelerating exploration and production across India’s deepwater and ultra-deepwater regions, the scheme will provide fresh momentum to domestic hydrocarbon production, reduce dependence on energy imports and advance the national vision of an energy-secure and self-reliant #ViksitBharat.

Through #CSR assistance of ₹260.61 crore, #ONGC, in collaboration with @vdavaranasi, is supporting the rejuvenation and development of a 2.5-km stretch of the River Varuna between Victory Bridge and Chaukaghat Bridge in Varanasi.

The project is expected to benefit nearly 36 lakh residents, pilgrims and tourists through:

• Restoration of the river ecosystem and floodplain
• Construction of wetlands and rain gardens for natural water filtration
• Wastewater treatment and responsible water management systems
• Native plantations, biodiversity zones and greener riverbanks
• Pedestrian promenades, cycle tracks and universally accessible pathways
• Cultural ghats, community spaces and open-air activity areas
• Parks, gardens, nature trails and viewing platforms
• Yoga, fitness and wellness spaces
• Improved lighting, sanitation, drinking water and public amenities
• Renewable-energy integration and responsible waste management
• Support for local tourism, livelihoods and community participation

By restoring the River Varuna and reconnecting people with its banks, ONGC is helping create a cleaner, greener, safer and more inclusive future for Kashi.
Because rejuvenating a river also renews the life, culture and possibilities around it.

“Once considered a marginal field, Tapti was developed in two stages but eventually approached the end of its production life. The decision to decommission involved navigating uncertainties, managing risks, and ensuring minimal environmental impact. In collaboration with @DghIndia, we are also exploring advanced decommissioning frameworks, looking deeper into asset design for future opportunities.”
The session, moderated by Mr. Vivek Rahi of @KPMGIndia, brought together leaders from @Shell, the British Gas Exploration and Production India Limited (BGEPIL), and @RIL_Updates, charting the future of responsible offshore asset retirement in India.

As #AmarnathYatra begins today, #ONGC reaffirms its commitment to resilient infrastructure, dependable services, and a deep sense of public duty.
Each year, over 5 lakh devotees brave steep ascents, biting cold, and unpredictable terrain to undertake this journey of faith in the Himalayas. It is more than a pilgrimage. It is a true test of endurance, spirit, and devotion.
To support this extraordinary effort, ONGC, under its #CSR initiative, is developing permanent Yatri Niwas and Disaster Management Complexes at Baltal, Nunwan, Bijbehara, and Sidhra, ensuring safe lodging, sanitation and #emergency services for pilgrims and local communities alike.
This long-term initiative began in 2023, with ONGC recognising the need for lasting support structures. In 2024, ONGC constructed 100-bed hospitals at Baltal and Chandanwari, now serving as Primary Health Centres, equipped with ICUs and staff housing, delivering healthcare access beyond the Yatra season.
