@mikeachimugu01 Nobody is denigrating Nigeria, drawing attention to observation and experiences. The post was not randomly posted but brought to your attention as someone whom I noticed work within that space. While some do, some don't, which is noted. Strict regulation of sharp practices needed
Nigerians don't need handouts, what they need is an enabling environment to run their businesses, travel safely across the length and breadth of the country. Is that too much to ask? When we are not in an emergency, why would a government focus on handouts of food to citizens?
STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE
RENEWED HOPE INITIATIVE EXTENDS FOOD OUTREACH TO OSUN, NOW 31ST BENEFICIARY STATE
NAMES OGUN AND AKWA IBOM STATES AS NEXT BENEFICIARIES
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), has extended the Food Outreach Scheme to Osun State, making it the 31st beneficiary state of the programme.
Representing the First Lady at the presentation, Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, formally handed over the food items to the Wife of the Governor of Osun State and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Mrs Titilola Adeleke, for onward distribution to persons with disabilities, widows and other vulnerable groups.
The Food Outreach Programme, launched in March 2024, aims to provide direct nutritional support to vulnerable Nigerians and strengthen the well-being of families across the country. Since its inception, the programme has made a remarkable impact.
Speaking at the event, Senator Oluremi Tinubu said the initiative was designed to complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, by ensuring that vulnerable citizens receive the support they need, irrespective of their status or circumstances.
She reiterated that the programme had been sustained through the generosity of two partners who provide two truckloads of food items to the Renewed Hope Initiative every month, enabling the initiative to support two states monthly.
The donors are the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) and another donor who has chosen to remain anonymous. The food items presented to Osun State were provided entirely by the anonymous donor.
“This particular supply we are distributing today in Osun is entirely from our anonymous donor. I thank both partners for their deep generosity and sustained commitment to supporting vulnerable populations in Nigeria,” the First Lady said.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through the Wife of the Vice President, further disclosed that Ogun and Akwa Ibom States would be the next beneficiaries of the growing initiative.
She also commended the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for the warm reception accorded the delegation. She equally appreciated the Governor’s wife for her dedication to implementing Renewed Hope Initiative programmes in the state.
On behalf of the people and government of Osun State, Governor Adeleke commended the First Lady for the initiative, describing food intervention as a humanitarian action that helps address the needs of the less privileged.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, the Governor said the food outreach had added to the many people-oriented programmes Senator Oluremi Tinubu had conceived and implemented since 2023 through the Renewed Hope Initiative. He assured the First Lady that the Osun State Government would support the various laudable programmes of the RHI.
In her welcome remarks, the Wife of the Governor of Osun State, Mrs Titilola Adeleke, stated that another impactful chapter had been written in the history of Osun State and Nigeria through the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, expressing the gratitude of the people of Osun State.
She added that, through the RHI programmes, vulnerable senior citizens in Osun State now find joy in their old age, petty traders have benefited from grants that support commercial activities, and agriculture and food security have improved. She also highlighted the initiative’s contributions to education, healthcare support and other areas.
The Food Outreach Programme is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s broader commitment to social inclusion and humanitarian support, particularly for citizens facing economic and social vulnerabilities.

@kunzak@mikeachimugu01 The issue is, in my last experience, after paying 2k, the man who assisted with my luggages insisted I must pay him extra. Maybe building in some of these would remove the embarrassing behavior of some of those people who hide under working to beg, something you only see at home
All these are on paper, they have not translated into socioeconomic prosperity for Nigerians. That is not how governance work. Governance must impact the governed by improving their social status, which is not the case in Nigeria. So how do you explain all the paper reforms?
At Chatham House, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, highlighted the progress of Nigeria’s economic reforms, stressing that the priority is to sustain policy discipline, attract investment and translate macroeconomic gains into better living standards.
Key Highlights of Nigeria’s Economic Reform Progress
- By the end of 2025, petrol subsidy removal had saved ₦15.88 trillion, equivalent to approximately $12 billion, which would otherwise have been spent on subsidising petrol consumption.
- Resources released by subsidy removal are being channelled into higher wages, education, roads, power and social protection.
- Nigeria has maintained a unified, market-determined exchange-rate system rather than returning to multiple exchange-rate windows and administrative rationing.
- The government’s cash transfer programme has reached more than 10 million households, with digital payments verified through National Identification Numbers to improve transparency and reduce intermediary interference.
- Investments are being directed towards agricultural technology, year-round irrigation, storage facilities, rural roads and security for farming communities.
- Access to finance is being expanded for smallholder farmers and small businesses, which play a major role in job creation.
- The alternative to reform would have meant rising subsidy costs, longer foreign-exchange queues, a weakening naira, runaway inflation, unemployment and deeper poverty.
- The government intends to maintain the core reforms through the election period, with spending guided by budget plans rather than political pressure.
- Budget preparation and execution are being reformed, while information on government revenue, borrowing, debt servicing and expenditure is being made public.
- Priorities include a framework to guide economic policy and regulation, better public spending, stronger fiscal governance, and investment in physical and institutional infrastructure.
- Nigeria is highlighting its unified exchange rate, the ability to repatriate investment returns, a simpler and fairer tax system, and foreign-exchange reserves described in the address as being at an 18-year high.
- The government is seeking guarantees to reduce investment risks, technical expertise to strengthen institutions and cooperation to curb illicit financial flows draining resources from Africa.
@officialEFCC Could you start with the corrupt politicians whom have been invited by you in the past yet hold positions from the presidency down? I don't think the average Nigerian takes the EFCC serious. Some of these government parastatals that have lost their position have to be scrapped
Nigeria is NOT the only country where trolleys are paid for, and there is nothing shameful about it. I pay for trolleys in Miami and other global travellers have mentioned airports across the world where trolleys are also tolled. You need to stop this false narrative.
@NGRPresident@officialSKSM Emergency relief because of election? I thought the government said it's reforms are working. This current leadership lacks what it takes to transform Nigeria. All socioeconomic development indicators are negative. Nigerains deserve better not these peace meals
@mikeachimugu01@mikeachimugu01, pls can the shameful and exploitative act of asking Travellers to pay 2000 for trolley and 500 for return passengers be looked into? Unless I am wrong, Nigeria is the only country where trolleys are paid for. This should be addressed, it is exploitative
Can you please try and address the corruption among the staff at the international airports. Nowhere in the world do people pay for trolley. Collecting N2000 for trolley at departure and 500 at arrival doesn't speak well of us. This should be addressed
Today, I was pleased to formally sign the settlement agreements between the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Bi-Courtney Limited and Stabilini Visinoni Limited over the nearly 20-year disputes involving MM2 domestic airport and the uncompleted hotel and conference centre opposite the airport. I was joined by the Directors of the Ministry of Aviation, the MD of FAAN, the DG of the ICRC and other Ministry officials. Bi-Courtney Ltd was represented by its alter ego, Dr. Wale Babalakin and his team.
Under President Tinubu’s directive, some two years ago, I initiated and pursued a negotiated settlement with Dr. Wale
Babalakin. As members of the Inner Bar, we both brought all our legal knowledge to bear on so many of the complicated and seemingly intractable issues. We also carried along all members of our teams on both sides. Finally, we found a way out of the logjam.
The signing of the agreements today followed the approval granted by the Federal Executive Council on April 30th this year for the negotiated settlement to take place. It put an end to several claims and counterclaims that travelled all the way from the courts of first instance to the Supreme Court.
Among several immediate benefits is that the Federal Government, will for the first time in nearly 2 decades, begin to earn its own share of the revenue from MM2 and the facility can expand its operations to include regional flights (flights within Africa).
Let him start by putting a stop to the incessant kidnappings across the country. He has failed to address that and showed little concern about those kidnapped or killed in communities. Nigerians need to be alive to be governed
Nigeria has become one of those countries where citizens leave in search of a better life abroad. Give Tinubu until 2031 & you’ll begin to see the Japa trend reverse as more Nigerians return home to a country on the path to recovery.
This is not rage bait; it’s my conviction about Nigeria’s future.
Under Tinubu's regime, only a fraction of Nigeria can even afford 2k per day, given the number of people who have been plunged into poverty. He should be voted out for Nigerians to prosper
At ₦2,000 per meal, feeding yourself three times a day for four years will cost ₦8.76 million.
If you sell your vote for peanuts, don’t complain when bad leadership makes your life miserable. You sold your future for crumbs.
Vote for President Tinubu. The reforms must continue if we are to secure a more prosperous future for Nigeria.
what does Christian icon award mean? At a time when the country is at an all time low, daily killings, kidnappings and precarious living conditions, the church should.focus more on praying for the revival of the soul of the country rather than engaging politicians. Lord Mercy 🙏
Earlier today, the entire leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) conferred me with the Christian Icon Award as part of activities to mark its 50th anniversary.
I received the prestigious award alongside the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, the SGF Sen. George Akume, CON, the Delta State Governor, H.E Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Oyo State, H.E Engr. Seyi Makinde, former leaders Gen. Yakubu Gowon, GCFR, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR. The former Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, GCON was also honoured.
It became worse under him. What any well meaning Nigerian will expect with a new government is positive change. Telling us poverty didn't start with Tinubu means you don't understand what to expect from good governance
Talkative...
Poverty didn't start with Tinubu, & pretending he created all Nigeria's problems is dishonest.
He inherited years of economic mismanagement and is taking difficult steps to address them. Nigerians have every right to demand better living conditions, but reforms that took decades to become necessary cannot be reversed overnight.
Criticise the government, but be fair enough to acknowledge the challenges and the work required to fix them.
What you call years of economic mismanagement is still the same. The same political class are still the ones in place PDAPC. The masses were better off then than now because cost of living economic outlook was better than now. Corruption was with the politicians and still here
No one is denying that Nigerians are facing hardship, but we must also be honest about where the country is coming from & the difficult reforms needed to move it forward.
Years of economic mismanagement cannot be corrected overnight. The reforms may be painful, but abandoning them without a better alternative could make things worse.
The government must do more to ease the burden on citizens, but rebuilding an economy takes time, consistency & accountability.
The problem is Tinubu doesn't know how to go about governance hence his failure
He thought being called president is all that matters, now nothing tangible to show for his leadership. Even if he didn't remove subsidy, he would still performed terribly. He is not cut out for that
I swear, if I were Tinubu, I wouldn't bother fixing Nigeria. I would keep borrowing to fund subsidies & artificially keep the dollar rate low, just to make people happy.
It seems Nigerians don't appreciate the difficult decisions Tinubu is making. He should have simply followed the path of past presidents and left the problems for the next administration. Sometimes, it feels like Nigerians prefer temporary comfort over the difficult reforms needed to fix the country.
@Palermo_seun Do you know that the minimum wage of 70k cannot buy a bag of rice compared to previous minimum wages... It is not about increase in minimum wage but about the purchasing power being eroded. Tinubu only succeeded in moving Nigeria to the highest in multidimensional poverty, read
Tinubu is not working hard because neither him nor his team understand how development works. Technocrats would have better managed the system for better outcome. No economic development indicators that concerns the peape is working. It is a failed system
The increase is painful, no doubt, but Nigeria cannot build a sustainable economy by keeping fuel prices artificially low. The real test is whether these reforms will deliver a stronger economy, increased local refining & better living conditions.
Tinubu is working hard to ensure these reforms deliver results.

I think there is no mess in the Nigerian airways that is worse than Buhari borrowing Ethiopian airways, stand in front of the camera and deceived over 200 million Nigerains that it is Nigerain airways. This administration should focus on governance than throwing stones
