Thank you for this comment. Security agencies typically use a technique known as triangulation to track people using their digital footprints. For triangulation to work, you would usually need cell phone towers, routers, or other means of tracking and tracing IP addresses, phone numbers, or social media accounts.

Alternatively, after securing a warrant from a judge, they can request such data from your mobile phone and Internet provider, who will then use triangulation or cell-site simulators to track you down and pass your location to the appropriate authorities.

Triangulation and other means of narrowing down your location work almost like science in urban and even rural areas. So, it is not difficult to trace people who live in cities, towns, and villages, once you have their digital footprints.

However, in environments like deserts, forests, and oceans, where humans do not typically make their dwelling and therefore do not leave a digital trace, it can be challenging to track people using triangulation or other modern tracking techniques, which rely on infrastructure that is typically not found in these terrains.

Now, that difficult situation is made even harder when the targets to be located are moving.

For example, Oyo State is roughly the same size as the five Southeastern states combined. And it is a state populated by several forests.

Opara Forest in Oyo, where some cross-border bandits are suspected to operate, is roughly the size of Lagos State. The entire Lagos State is only slightly bigger. Opara Forest is half the size of the whole of Anambra State.

There are no cell phone towers or routers in Opara Forest. Please fact-check me. So, the ability to digitally trace these bandits using triangulation is severely limited.

In fact, in the area around Ogbomosho, where the children were sadly abducted, which are the villages of Ahoro-Esinele, Yawota, and Alawusa, cell phone communications are extremely limited or nonexistent, because telecommunications firms, like MTN, and others, hardly have cell towers in those outlying towns. That's why it even took a while for the school authorities to alert the Oyo State Government, because there was no network in the area.

This is not limited to Nigeria. There are literally hundreds of small towns in America without network coverage. Believe it or not, millions of Americans still live without internet's millions. Please fact-check me!

Drones are a good means of reconnoitring extreme environments. However, drones face significant challenges in thick forests, as they can only fly above the ground, and ground visibility is limited or even impossible because the trees obscure their cameras.

Additionally, when these bandits hold children hostage, even if you can somehow find them in the heavily forested areas they operate in, neutralising them poses another risk, because they tend to use their hostages as human shields.

So, Oku, by now, I hope you can appreciate the significant topographical challenges posed by the environment in which these bandits operate. Therefore, I urge you and others making these unfair comparisons to please be patriotic and support our security forces as they do their best in very difficult situations.

When Custom Officer seize anything from you or your loved ones.
The officers are mandated to provide Notice of Seizure, we call it Seizure Receipt

If you don't collect your Seizure Receipt, what it means is this

The custom officer did not document it and may fail to report it in their office, which will give them the grace to sell it or enrich themselves with what they seize from you

The officer must provide a written document stating what was seized and why (the specific legal grounds or offense).

You have 30 days from the date on the Notice of Seizure to file a formal "Notice of Claim" to contest the seizure.

If you contest the seizure, Customs generally cannot dispose of the goods without a court order of condemnation.

Know your right

Instead of begging those Customs officers, collect your Seizure receipt and contest it within 30 days

You may want ask, Atanda how do i contest it within the 30 days

Submit a formal Notice of Claim to the Customs Area Controller (CAC) at the Area Command where the goods were seized. This letter should detail why the seizure was unlawful

If the administrative claim is rejected in step one, you can file a lawsuit in the Federal High Court.

COURT ISSUES INTERIM ORDER ON TINTED GLASS PERMIT ENFORCEMENT

On 15th December 2025, the Nigeria Police Force announced the resumption of enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit policy, to take effect from 2nd January 2026, in furtherance of its responsibility for public safety and internal security.

However, subsequent to this announcement, the Nigeria Police Force was served with an interim order of court in Suit No. HOR/FHR/M/31/2025, issued on 17th December 2025, restraining the Force from proceeding with the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit policy pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit or the vacation of the order.

In line with constitutional obligations and respect for judicial authority, the Nigeria Police Force has entered appearance in the matter, raised preliminary objections, and formally applied for the vacation of the interim order. The court has adjourned the case to 20th January 2026 for further proceedings.

Accordingly, and strictly in compliance with the subsisting court order, the Nigeria Police Force has placed the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit policy on hold nationwide, pending the decision of the court.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, affirms that the Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in upholding the rule of law while discharging its primary mandate of protecting lives and property. The Force will continue to deploy lawful, intelligence-driven strategies to address security challenges and safeguard public safety across the country.

Members of the public are assured that the Nigeria Police Force will communicate further developments and issue clear guidance as appropriate following the court’s determination of the matter, in the overriding interest of public order and national security.

Dangote Refinery Urges Nigerians to Report MRS Stations Selling Petrol Above ₦739/Litre

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has called on Nigerians to report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling station selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, above the approved price of ₦739 per litre.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the refinery announced the commencement of nationwide sales of petrol at ₦739 per litre exclusively through over 2,000 MRS stations across the country. This price reduction, backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, aims to provide relief to consumers, stabilize the downstream market, and counter seasonal fuel scarcity often seen during the festive period.

The refinery commended MRS and other compliant marketers for "demonstrating patriotism" by implementing the reduced pump price, while urging other operators to patronize its products to extend the benefits nationwide.

It strongly warned against "unscrupulous" attempts to create artificial scarcity or inflate prices, describing such actions as "unpatriotic" and calling on regulatory authorities to intervene firmly.

"We encourage Nigerians to avoid buying PMS at excessively high prices when they can access locally refined fuel at ₦739 per litre from over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide. Report any MRS station selling above ₦739 per litre by calling 0800 123 5264,” the statement reads in part.
