Thinking and learning are invisible processes - if we don't interact in some way with the students how will we know what they are 'learning'? So often by the time teachers stop talking the students misconceptions are many and beginning to embed.

@HughesHaili @greeborunner Whilst I understand the idea of lessening workload all too often I have seen shared planning de-skill teachers who haven’t sequenced the lesson so don’t get the hinge point or the why this why now of tasks or don’t edit the lessons appropriately. How can we get around that?

@MarginalDanes Thank you. It really nice to hear other experts too! I think the concept of the co-construction of knowledge is so powerful. Learning is invisible and well planned oracy gives us a window into students process as they practice and develop complex ideas and concepts

@missdcox 100% and I would start with that as a drive for our subject before curriculum as no matter how amazing the curriculum it’s all in the delivery.

@missdcox I totally understand- but I think that the schools where that’s the case will just buy in poor quality curriculums and not teach RE but just do it and cover compliance. It will still be taught by non specialists and staff who are under. It won’t bring. The rigour we want

@missdcox @kilvoa_alex I think that it’s hard to study more than 2 religions in the depth required to use it to debate any issue in depth in ks3 I am always conscious about some painting a caricature of religion leading to more misconceptions. Karma for example, oversimplified to 1 lesson soundbites.
