never give up on keeping your contention window open, because you never know when you might face a coach who insists on playing carter hart for the entire cup final
killers of the flower moon not winning a single oscar is criminal. we had scorsese working on another level, de niro giving the greatest late career performance and lily gladstone stealing every scene she was in. it deserved way better
@DetectiveSpade_ I agree with you that the mark of a great film is making you really feel something special. There’s no movie I’ve seen that I thought was great that didn’t have me feeling real emotion
@DetectiveSpade_ That makes sense to me. Where disclosure day didn’t work for me is that I felt that I didn’t feel like the characters made sense, which kept me feeling detached and not really able to feel the emotions that I think Spielberg was going for.
@bananamorphs Of course I agree! But there are ppl who get way too caught up in the logic of it all & can’t get past something if it doesn’t check out/lineup 100% for them. For me it’s all about how it makes me feel. What emotions are the filmmakers trying to elicit from me vs cold hard logic.
@DetectiveSpade_ These two things need not be in opposition. I find that the emotion works better when some care is taken to make the logic work at least a little bit
