Because Manchester United should operate at the same level as Barcelona, Bayern and the biggest clubs in the world. So why are United behaving like a retirement solution for players leaving those clubs?

United used to develop elite players in their best years. Then when those players became older, they moved elsewhere. That was the standard. So why exactly should the reverse now become acceptable? That’s not ambition. Ambition is going for players like Michael Olise, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia or even Erling Haaland. Players entering or approaching their prime. Not players already leaving it
