As someone who has survived child abuse on multiple occasions, using “how to tell if a child is getting abused” as the setup for a joke is incredibly insensitive. Child abuse isn’t a punchline or a comedic format to parody. There are countless ways to make the same “our manager suffers because of us” joke without using abused children as the premise.

I’m deeply disappointed in Kenny, Aito, the company, and everyone excusing it as “just a joke.” Understanding the reference and still believing it crossed a line are not mutually exclusive.
