Because they did not seriously and independently discuss the terms and issues with their contracts, despite the fact that their future and rights were at stake. Instead, they seemed more concerned about not harming Min Hee-jin, even if it meant destroying their own future and lives. MHJ was the executive in charge of all these matters at the time. Rather than focusing on the substance of the contracts and the clauses they contained, the case turned into an attempt to hold another group responsible for problems that had nothing to do with them.

You may not know this, but NewJeans went to court citing 11 reasons for terminating their contracts, but the court rejected every single one of them because they were trivial and unrealistic. What makes this even more ridiculous is that most of the evidence they presented concerned another group! They claimed that group was copying them simply because its members had long hair? That filming in front of the Eiffel Tower was an attempt to imitate NewJeans? And that the group had failed to bow to them and prostrate themselves while saying “hello,” treating this as evidence of mistreatment!

They tried to get out of their contracts by dragging another group into the case, tarnishing its reputation, and shifting the blame onto them in order to protect their executive director.
