Assam is conducting the 5th Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test (FLNAT) today under ULLAS - Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakaram across 34 districts, with about 2.7 lakh learners appearing for the assessment.

An all-inclusive approach, with Volunteer Teachers from Higher Education Institutions and Teacher Education Institutes extending active support to the learners to ensure their participation in the FLNAT. Best wishes to the learners and Team ULLAS in Assam for stepping ahead towards full literacy in Assam.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Shri @jayantrld addressed International Literacy Day (ILD) 2025 celebration organised by Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi today. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era”, highlighting the pivotal role of digital technology in enabling reading, writing, numeracy, and lifelong learning skills across the country.

On this occasion Union Minister for Education, Shri @dpradhanbjp, delivered a virtual address highlighting India’s progress and vision for universal literacy. Shri Pradhan underscored that literacy goes beyond reading and writing. It is a means to dignity, empowerment and self-reliance.

On the occasion of International Literacy Day 2025, Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL) organised a programme on 8th September, 2025, at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.

The occasion was graced by Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (I/C) and Minister of State for Education, Shri @jayantrld, as the chief guest, along with Hon’ble Education Minister of Tripura Shri Kishor Barman and Hon’ble Education Minister of Mizoram Dr. Vanlalthlana. In a video message, Hon'ble Union Minister of Education, Shri @dpradhanbjp, emphasised upon the resolve for a literate, skilled and self-reliant nation while appreciating the progress made by States and UTs towards full literacy. Shri. @sanjayjavin, Secretary, DoSEL, along with senior officials from the Ministry and stakeholders across India, graced the occasion.

The event highlighted the unwavering commitment of DoSEL to advancing literacy through ULLAS – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram. Key sessions included the launch of “ULLAS Compendium on Teaching Learning Material” and experience sharing by States/UTs, volunteer teachers and neo-literates, along with a special film screening on “Journey towards Full Literacy”.

🎉 Tripura Declared a Fully Literate State.

Tripura has officially joined the list of Fully Literate States under the ULLAS – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, becoming the 4th State/UT in India to achieve this milestone after Ladakh, Mizoram and Goa.

The declaration was made by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on 23rd June 2025 at a state-level event held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala, in the presence of senior dignitaries from the Government of India and the State Government.

📌 Key Highlights:
✅ Achieved a literacy rate of 95%
✅ Volunteer Teachers actively engaged
✅ Learning materials developed in Bengali, English, and Kokborok
✅ Learners certified through FLNAT with focus on Foundational literacy, digital literacy, financial literacy.

Tripura’s success reflects the spirit of Janbhagidari, Kartavyabodh, and effective grassroots mobilisation under the ULLAS scheme. The journey from 20.24% literacy in 1961 to Fully Literate State is a shining example of what collaborative governance and community commitment can achieve.

This landmark moment is a step forward towards building a Fully Literate Bharat and achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat @ 2047. 🇮🇳
