Why do Indians follow different laws for marriage, divorce, adoption, or inheritance depending on religion?
Time to discuss the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) — one law, one nation, equal rights for every Indian. 🇮🇳
Thoughts? Let's talk!

Elon, nobody here is asking about price. India asked three questions.
Will Indian data stay in India?
Will Starlink allow lawful monitoring like every telecom company here?
Will it switch off service in an area during an emergency?
Answer those, and you won't need to call millions of Indians Ambani's army.
🚨 HORRIFIC CASE FROM PATIYA, CHATTOGRAM, BANGLADESH 🇧🇩
A Minority Hindu boy, Partha Biswas, was beaten by Muslims and madrasa students over an accusation of religious blasphemy.
Critically injured, he was rushed to a medical facility, where he later died.
The incident has triggered outrage over the radical attack.
@ajeetbharti@ajeetbharti bhaiji, I'm from Andhra Pradesh and I request you to kindly check the freebie culture here especially to the so called PDA. There's developmental progress for sure but these freebies are hurting AP economically.
When you have casteist like Dilip Mandal as an advisor, when you have a PM who pushes absurd laws like Modi Act that divide the society, when you have a govt defending, with silence, UGC guidelines that targets only one caste group…
How on earth are you blaming the sun, moon and mars!
@Sm9710513Mishra@neha_laldas Pure merit and talent ka FALL toh kabse hi horaha Hai desh mein.. Ismein unhone tod marod ke kuch nahi balki ekdum satya likha Hai. It's possible you can't see it now but if the same continues then yes, future is utterly dark!

Anticipatory bail has just been denied to @ajeetbharti in the case where the FIR against him invoked draconian SC/ST act provisions. Ajeet's remarks were a reaction to provocation involving his sister. He could be jailed for up to 7 years.
I stand with Ajeet. And so should you.
In the last 5 years: 247,000 cases were filed under the SC/ST Act; only 20,210 cases ended in conviction; and as many as 34,300 were closed as false.
The Supreme Court, quick to flag the low conviction rate in UAPA cases, is mysteriously silent when it comes to the SC/ST act.

https://t.co/ahTwZlzL8C
Just like that actress who genuinely seems convinced that India is waiting breathlessly for her next intellectual revelation, I chose to wait a few days before saying this.
There is something profoundly vulgar about sitting centuries away, in the safety of hindsight, and reducing the choices of Rajput women to the vocabulary of the body.
The Ranis who chose jauhar did not exist merely as bodies waiting to be interpreted through someone else’s politics. Whatever one thinks of the practice today, those women understood their circumstances, made choices within the world they inhabited, and acted upon convictions that were theirs. Their courage, however alien it may seem to a modern mind, cannot simply be stripped of agency and translated into the language of sexual anatomy.
Yet here we are - a woman perched comfortably on the high chair of modern enlightenment, dispensing retrospective gyan, while reducing Veeranganas to nothing more sophisticated than vaginas.
What an extraordinary poverty of imagination!
You do not honour women by denying them the capacity to possess convictions you find uncomfortable. You do not liberate historical women by insisting that their decisions can only be understood through your preferred modern vocabulary. And you certainly do not demonstrate intellectual superiority by replacing their minds with their bodies.
Vagina or not, you crass woman, the obscenity is not in what those women chose. It is in your inability to imagine them as anything more than their sex.
Those women had minds. They had convictions. They had courage. They had an understanding of dignity shaped by their own time, their own world and their own circumstances.
You are entitled to disagree with their choices. But you will be intellectually inoculated in democratic spaces if you erase their agency simply because their conception of dignity does not flatter yours.
That is not intellectualism. That is historical arrogance dressed up as enlightenment.

No fewer than two dozen major wars were fought among the Rajputs with zero Muslim involvement. Not a single episode involved self-immolation of any kind. Not one. Neither Indian, nor foreign accounts record a single instance. Now see this:
- 712-712, Dahir of Sind vs. Muhammad bin Qasim: Jauhar committed.
1232-1232, Gwalior (Rajputs) vs. Iltutmish: Jauhar committed
- 1301-1301, Ranthambore vs. Alauddin Khalji: Jauhar committed

Similarly, when the British came, we had a series of gruesome engagements starting with Plassey and Buxar, then going on to the Carnatic Wars, the Anglo-Mysore Wars, the Anglo-Maratha Wars, the Anglo-Gurkha War, the Anglo-Sikh Wars, the Anglo-Burmese Wars, the Anglo-Afghan Wars, and many, many more.
No jauhar.
Now, when someone like that book reviewer condemns “Hindutva” for “glorifying jauhar,” I am fully on their side. I agree it was a morbid ritual that does not belong in a civilized society, thank goodness we no longer do that. But do you see a pattern in the above lists?
Why do you think this macabre ritual was practiced EXCLUSIVELY in conflicts involving Muslim forces?
Why didn’t women feel the need to self-immolate when their kingdoms fell to any other adversary?
You can’t be dumb enough to not draw the only possible conclusion here.
Nobody glorifies jauhar, it was not picnic.
We “honor” it. No, not the immolation itself but the debilitating sentiment behind it. With the honor we keep our alive in our collective memory. Know why?
Because the demons that drove our ancestors to such extremities still live and breathe amongst us to this day.
And they haven’t changed one bit.
When someone prefers death to your touch, what even are you?
