Something funny happened at work. I got a new phone and my friend was teasing me about “washing” it when an older nurse joined the conversation and said I should involve her too and teach her how to “go outside.”

I asked what she meant and she said, So she too can go out and meet people that will buy her big things.

Immediately I cleared her that Nobody gave me money to buy my phone o. I saved up and bought it because I wanted it.

And honestly, I find it so weird how people constantly belittle a woman’s effort by assuming there must be a man behind whatever she has. The only man that has ever bought me a phone or contributed money towards buying me one is my dad.
