GTA 6 NEW ROBBERY & ECONOMY DETAILS:
- Money is now split into three types: your bank balance, physical cash and the value of loot stored in a duffel bag.
- Money in your bank is safe, while physical cash needs to be deposited at an ATM.
- You can lose cash you're carrying if you die.
- Stolen loot in duffel bags must be taken to a fence to be converted into money.
- There are several tiers of free roam robberies, ranging from small stores to jewelry stores, banks and criminal compounds.
- Smaller locations like convenience stores and gas stations can be robbed but won't necessarily appear as robbery opportunities on the map.
- Higher-level robberies can appear on the map with an estimate of how much money you could make.
- New robbery opportunities can be discovered through story characters, favors, tips from people or simply exploring the world.
- Smaller payday loan locations can also be robbed.
- There are lots of criminal and gang compounds around the map containing drugs or cash that can be stolen and sold to fences.
- Compounds can be discovered through progression, tips from NPCs or simply stumbling across them.
- Robberies can be completed alone or with Jason and Lucia together.
- Making money through free roam robberies is an important part of the game rather than just optional side content.
- You can attempt to rob any store you enter, even if it isn't marked as a robbery opportunity.
- Store robberies can have safes in back rooms with combinations you need to discover.
- Safe codes can be found by searching the location or obtained through information from other characters.
- A fence can even text you the code to a safe inside a store.
- Robberies can play out differently each time depending on the location and NPC behavior.
- Some stores have back entrances that can be used to escape.
- Security cameras need to be dealt with during certain robberies.
- Civilians, clerks and security can attempt to fight back if they see an opportunity to stop you.
- Large armored vans around the map can also act as smaller money-making opportunities similar to GTA 5.
- Major story heists also return, although free roam versions of these have not been confirmed.
- Stolen goods no longer automatically turn into cash when a robbery ends.
- Different loot needs to be taken to the appropriate fence, including drug, jewelry and vehicle fences.
- Fences are discovered and unlocked as you progress through the game.
- This progression can limit which robberies are worthwhile early on because you may not yet know someone capable of selling certain stolen goods.
- At certain points, the story can completely stop progressing until Jason and Lucia reach a required amount of money.
- Rockstar wants these moments to encourage players to go into the world and decide for themselves how they want to make the required cash.
- These cash requirements can also give the main story time to slow down before new events and contacts become available.
- Money can be spent on clothing, makeup, hairstyles, headphones, earbuds and vehicle customization.
- Garages can be purchased to increase the amount of personal vehicles you can store.
- Stolen vehicles can be registered as personal vehicles by paying a fee.
- High-end stolen vehicles cannot initially be registered, with that ability unlocked through progression.
- Additional safehouses cannot be purchased because Jason and Lucia are on the run during the story.
- Rockstar did not give TGG a concrete answer on whether businesses can be purchased.
- Rockstar acknowledged GTA 5's problem of giving players huge amounts of money late in the story without enough meaningful things to spend it on.
- The team is actively trying to address that problem with the economy this time around.
- Rockstar is keeping some of the larger things players can spend money on secret for now, potentially because they are connected to the story.

GTA 6 is shaping up to be Rockstar’s most interactive open world yet, with a huge number of smaller systems designed to make Leonida feel more alive.
Bus stops can be used for fast travel, letting you either sit through the full ride or skip directly to your destination. Drive-thrus are fully functional too, allowing Jason or Lucia to order food and receive temporary stat boosts.
There’s also a RideMe app, similar to Uber or Lyft, where you can request a driver and either experience the full journey or skip it.
Convenience stores are more interactive, with players able to physically pick items from shelves before buying them, similar to RDR2. GTA 6 also features a zoo where you can study animals, and Jason and Lucia can visit together as a date to improve their relationship.
Phones are now physical items that characters actually look at and use. Jason and Lucia have different apps and follow different people, while social media posts can lead you to real locations and NPCs around the map.
A vehicle app called Waink gives details about cars, including the tool needed to break in, selling price and registration cost. Stolen cars also need to be registered before becoming personal vehicles.
The HUD is highly customizable, with options for a classic minimap, temporary HUD elements or a compass. Streamer Mode, Photo Mode and Cinematic Mode are also included.
NPC interactions work similarly to RDR2, allowing you to greet or antagonize people, and Lucia can even defend Jason independently in free roam.
NPCs also have a much wider variety of heights, while more pets can be found throughout the world.
GTA 6 is looking less like a traditional open world and more like a world that constantly reacts to what you do.
NEW GTA 6 DETAILS:
- Players can buy garages, but cannot purchase safe houses. Rockstar explained that buying safe houses wouldn’t make sense with Jason and Lucia being on the run.
- Driving has been completely rebuilt from the ground up. Rockstar describes it as combining the weight and feel of GTA 4 with the accessibility of GTA 5, with much higher top speeds and major handling differences between vehicles.
- Fuel and EV charging are fully implemented. Gas-powered vehicles need to be refueled, while electric vehicles need to be recharged. Refueling takes around 10 seconds in the build TGG saw, with Rockstar intentionally keeping the process quick.
- High-end stolen vehicles can have advanced trackers that force you to keep driving at high speed. Slow down for too long and the tracker can ping police with your location.
- Vehicles have different storage capacities for robbery loot. Motorcycles offer very limited storage, while cars and larger vehicles like vans can carry multiple duffel bags.
- GTA 6 features a Burnout-style crash camera during major high-speed collisions. The feature can be disabled in the settings.
- Some expensive vehicles cannot be hotwired. You can smash the window and enter the car, but you may still need a key cloner before the engine can be started.
- Vehicle theft tools aren’t all available from the beginning. Equipment such as key cloners can be unlocked by completing activities for vehicle fences.
- Mod shops have different specialties, meaning no single shop offers every vehicle modification. Certain builds and unique modifications require visiting specific shops around Leonida.
- Fast cars have higher top speeds than GTA 5, while different drivetrains, tires, suspension and steering significantly affect how vehicles handle.
- Traffic density is much higher and roads are narrower than GTA 5, making driving through busy areas more challenging.
- High-end sports cars can perform poorly off-road, making vehicle choice and off-road tuning more important depending on where you’re driving.
- Nitrous is available in GTA 6 and can be used during driving and racing.
- The Waink app lets you scan vehicles to see their security, required theft tool, tracker level, resale value and cost to register them as your own.
- Vehicle trackers have different levels. As you progress with vehicle fences, they can remove increasingly advanced trackers from stolen cars.
- Players can store stolen vehicles inside purchased garages even before registering them, allowing valuable cars to be kept until their trackers can eventually be removed.
- Pay ‘n’ Spray returns, allowing basic repairs and resprays that can also help change the vehicle description known to police.
- Carjacking now involves a quick-time interaction. Passengers can also fight back and attempt to pull you out of the vehicle instead of simply sitting there.
- If police know your personal vehicle was involved in a crime, they can remain around it after you escape. Leave it for too long and the vehicle can be impounded, requiring you to pay for it or steal it back.
- Destroyed personal vehicles can be recovered through Scooter Brothers for a fee.
- Vehicle destruction has a greater impact on driving than GTA 5. Damaged or missing tires can cause vehicles to lose control or flip much more easily.
