Proud principal of Roosevelt K-8 school, a proud mother of BPS students, and a proud alumni of BPS school . Opinions expressed here are mine and mine alone.
I founded the @C4JDHowardU at @HowardU for this moment. This is why I’ve called on the profession to discard neutrality and explicitly engage in pro-democracy journalism. Earlier this month, we hosted experts on oligarchy on campus at our Democracy Summit to help equip journalists to cover the way billionaires are eroding democracy. We are witnessing this in real time.
Rule number one: Do not obey in advance. Rule number two: Democracy requires a free press, but a free press also REQUIRES democracy.

Another school visit today, this time it was at the @BostonSchools Roosevelt Lower Campus! No story but a really fun discussion with the K-2 classes about government and public service. Really great questions from the students about how government can help them!
NCNW is excited about the release of “Shirley,” which tells the story of Shirley Chisholm’s historic run for the 1972 Democratic presidential nomination. We will be tuning in to watch this weekend! #NCNWStrong#ShirleyNetflix#Shirley
Sarah-Ann Shaw, Boston’s 1st Black female TV news reporter, has died at age 90. She began with WBZ in 1969 & became a symbol of progress & a VOICE for voiceless, marginalized Boston residents through Vietnam, busing, & the civil rights struggle, until retiring in 2000. 🙏🏿
The @Mass_SBA was excited to be in @CityOfBoston celebrating with @MayorWu the placement of the final steel beam at the William E. Carter School, a project so many of us are proud of. (1/2)
Many quote Daddy today, but when he was alive, he was one of the most hated men in the United States. And I suspect that, among the many who quote him, there are those who hate the authentic, peacemaking, truth telling, poverty-racism-militarism eradicating King. #MLK
