@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku If you don’t mind, maybe we could continue this conversation through DMs? I’d actually like to hear your perspective and share mine more comfortably there. I feel like our comment thread is already turning into an entire essay, haha.
I only have two questions. Has VVQM ever forbidden us from shipping these characters? And if you choose to attack someone who is already emotionally vulnerable, have you ever thought about what could happen if you push them too far?
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku I don’t feel ashamed of what I ship, nor do I think that makes me insensitive. They’re fictional characters, and that’s simply how I see it.
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku There are people who draw these characters in explicit situations, sexualize them, portray them being cheated on, raped, and so on—there are countless things that go much further than what I’m doing. So personally, I don’t feel like I’m doing anything particularly harmful to them
OH MY GOD, can we retire the "I see them as friends/siblings" comment already? 😭 The artist literally drew them as a couple and that's their headcanon. Walking into ship art just to announce you don't ship it is like going to a cat post to say you prefer dogs🥀
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku Honestly, this is the kind of conversation I wish we could have more often in this fandom—being able to disagree, explain our perspectives, and still treat each other like human beings.
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku Even when we have different opinions, you’ve explained your point of view clearly instead of insulting or attacking me personally...
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku But you’re actually talking to me in such a polite and respectful way, haha. I honestly can’t remember the last time I felt like I could have a comfortable back-and-forth conversation with someone and freely express my own opinions like this. I hope you can keep this attitude go!
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku I’m bisexual myself. But at the end of the day, they’re fictional characters. I’ve never said anything disrespectful toward gay or lesbian people, nor do I have anything against the LGBT community. All I’m asking is: has VVQM ever prohibited these ships?
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku But when it comes to the ALNST fandom, all I seem to see is constant policing, pressure, and hostility, and honestly, it’s becoming suffocating.
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku Honestly, my shipping is limited to fictional 2D characters. It has nothing to do with anyone in real life. Every fandom has its own unique and diverse shipping culture. People should be able to enjoy their ships and do what they want as long as they’re not hurting anyone.
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku I genuinely don’t understand what exactly our ships are supposed to erase or invalidate, or how shipping fictional characters somehow harms any real person.
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku I’m not denying or trying to erase anything about the canon versions of these characters. Honestly, I’m just tired of you guys repeatedly bringing up the fact that we’re shipping a straight character with a lesbian or gay character.
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku By ‘not confirmed,’ I mean that VVQM has never explicitly stated or confirmed that these characters are straight, gay, or lesbian. English isn’t my first language, so I may sometimes phrase things incorrectly when communicating. I’m sorry if my wording caused any misunderstanding
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku There have even been straight male characters who have been shipped with each other, and the same goes for female characters. So what exactly are we doing wrong?
@fasyaoren@tsuki_naku The characters’ sexual orientations have never been confirmed. Besides, we’re simply shipping fictional characters, and it doesn’t affect VVQM in any way. Every fandom has people who go against the majority, so it’s completely normal for rarepairs to exist.
