~ Most blockchain discussions focus on who participates in consensus.
What caught my attention in @RetiumChain 's architecture is a different question:
"Who reviews the participants?"
That's the role of Honest Reviewer Nodes (HRNs).
According to the documentation, HRNs are observer nodes that can review finality, analyze validator behavior, generate validator scores, and produce recommendations based on network activity.
Yet they remain outside consensus.
They don't produce blocks.
They don't determine finality.
They don't vote on protocol changes.
At first, it sounds like a limitation.
The more I looked at it, the more it seemed like the point.
Finality review, validator scoring, and behavioral analysis can provide valuable insight into how a network behaves. But insight and authority aren't the same thing.
Validators operate the network.
HRNs review it. 👇

HRNs evaluate them."
That separation is what I find interesting.
Most systems focus on creating participants.
Retium appears to be exploring the idea of creating reviewers.
By keeping HRNs outside consensus, the architecture introduces an additional layer of analysis without expanding the set of entities responsible for network decisions.
As a design concept, that's what makes HRNs stand out to me.
