“..Take away the guns and the teargas, and tear down the walls between the compounds of the wealthy and the corrugated homes of the poor. Let those who've profited from selling Kenya's future live in community with those whose futures they've mortgaged...”
Opinion: William Ruto is not the first leader whose polished international image fails to reflect his sinking domestic reputation. But he is a stark example of the difficulty of reconciling global obligations with domestic political realities https://t.co/f0q5AypyGi

Many Kenyan politicians proudly show off their luxury lifestyles, but with the cost-of-living crisis and the deadly anti-tax protests, young Kenyans see the flashy habits of officials as unacceptable.
Remember the Inspector General of Police Koome who has been sending his officers to brutalise, shoot, abduct, torture, and kill innocent Kenyans is still in office.
For all those asking how they can support the LSK in offering pro-bono legal services for protestors, here are the details for the @lawsocietykenya Legal Aid Fund

The Defenders Coalition is concerned that 187 protestors arrested arbitrarily on 2 July 2024 while taking part in #RejectFinanceBill2024 and arraigned in court on 3 July 2024 for plea-taking continue to be held in police custody despite the court freeing them on a free bond.
The Police have defied the court order and are holding them across various police stations in Nairobi: Central, Kamukunji and Capitol Hill Police Stations.
It is alleged that the police are frustrating the arrested persons by demanding for bribes to release them.
The 187 persons include minors. Concerning reports are indicative of prolonged detention without provision of food resulting to health issues for some of the detained persons.
Efforts by @HakiKNCHR, @lawsocietykenya and @DefendersKE have borne no fruits!
Another good day to remind people that just because an academic is renowned for their work in social justice, antiracism, decolonisation, or equality, it does not mean they are invested in this work at a personal level. Some are very good at researching these topics. That is all.
Another fact check. We’ve been paying for Moi referral hospital, We’re paying for Embu level 5 and other public hospitals as well. Even people in Mbagathi we visited them and we are waiting for the invoices. I’m repeating, do not play politics with people’s lives
RECEIPTS: A CNN review found that Kenyan police violated their own rules for the use of force in protests outside Parliament. Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei personally led the operation.
It was the deadliest day for a single demonstration. Who killed these protesters?
I will be around NATION CENTER today giving away 100 copies of The Constitution of Kenya!
Tupatane ground, this is our armour as we fight this rogue regime leo. Retweet!

The chaos on the streets of Nairobi this week highlights the risky bet the Biden administration has made on the Kenyan leader William Ruto, orchestrated largely by US Ambassador Meg Whitman. https://t.co/YApdCpA1kk
