The Miden Compiler is being developed at Polygon Miden so that the rollup can support smart contracts written in Rust and possibly other developer friendly languages in the future.
It can be useful in two ways:
-As a compiler backend for existing languages that wish to target Miden Assembly
-As a means of compiling WebAssembly code produced by another compiler to Miden Assembly.
On a high-level, the compiler’s codebase can be broken down into three components:
-Miden HIR: everything needed to build and compile an IR for a program for which Miden Assembly code has to be produced
-Wasm frontend: a library which can be used to convert a program compiled to .wasm to HIR
-midenc: a command-line tool that provides a convenient way to compile Wasm or HIR modules/programs to Miden Assembly and test them.
Let’s look at the compiler’s pipeline:

"ChatGPT, write a Christmas poem about #PolkadotDapps"
In a world where digital snowflakes fall,
Polkadot dapps stand tall.
Underneath the blockchain sky so clear,
They bring innovation, joy, and holiday cheer.
With each transaction, like a carol sung,
They weave a web where dreams are sprung.
In this festive season, through the frost and the cold,
Polkadot's dapps shine bright, bold and untold.
