It looks a little strange, but adding retro-walking to your routine is a massive win for your joints and longevity.
Here's why it rocks:
🔹 Knee Relief: It shifts the mechanical load, taking pressure off the kneecaps while strengthening supporting tendons.
🔹 Glute Activation: It forces your posterior chain to fire differently than standard forward walking.
🔹 Brain & Balance: It actively challenges your proprioception and spatial awareness, building new neural patterns.
1. Start safely on a flat, clear surface.
2. Land gently on the ball of your foot/toes and roll smoothly back to the heel.
3. Keep your posture upright.
4. Take short, deliberate steps.
5. Check over your shoulder frequently, until your spatial awareness adapts.
A few minutes a day is all it takes.

Been looking at the “barefoot running” Reddit today. I think our reconstructions of early human feet are deeply flawed, because all the available references are of people who wear shoes that compact the feet. These feet are surprisingly ape-like.

• Put one foot forward in a lunge
• With hand, thread the needle, and rotate up to the sky
• Head follows hand through rotation
Do 8-10 on each side, and rotate though the breath.
