Interesting admission of what I think is still a widely underrated fact: that the George Floyd hysteria is only intelligible in the context of the pandemic & lockdown.
I canβt stop thinking about all those who excused anger & even violence here in the UK over the death of George Floyd. I canβt get over the massive protests being allowed to take place when people were fined for things like going to their allotment to alleviate loneliness.
@FPower1@MsMelChen Theresa May (Conservative PM) banned Tyler the Creator in 2018 from entering the country due to "misogynist lyrics". This type of censorious ass-hattery isn't new and isn't the preserve of a single party or one particular government.
@MarkChangizi I only see your posts because I've created a list of ~200 accounts which is what I mostly look at when I log onto X.
Back in the day I'd interact with many accounts, big & small & in between. We would see each other's posts & replies -- now everything is lost in a sea of noise.
@mannipatch@Lindy_Loo15@JamesEsses@gxeki Louise Perry debated her on a podcast and determined that she's a clinical psychopath who wants money and fame above all else. She has no boundaries or moral scruples when it comes to pursuing her aims.
Disturbing that she is having a baby.
@PaganTech@Nina_Power_ One I go past all the time is Haggerston Baths. Public baths built in 1904, derelict since 2000.
Used to live near a place called The Venue in New Cross. Opened as a 2,300-seat picture house in 1925; became a music & club space many years but has now sat empty since covid.
@chrisboid Really good response.
Some of O'Neill's charges againts Restore are ones many of us have levelled. But a writer should dig beneath the surface and test hypotheses.
Adn while I like his podcast, he comes across more ideological than inquisitive in many of the topics he covers.
@RoisinMichaux Also memory-holed is the horrific fatal stabbing of 3 men, targeted for being gay, by a crazed Islamist in a park in Reading in 2020. Maybe it failed to get traction because it was overshadowed by covid -- though that wasn't a factor for George Floyd/BLM, which dominated UK news.
