The image circulating was deliberately edited to make it look like an Argentina player made the tackle on a Swiss player.

Ironically, it was a Messi fan who created the edit just to test the reaction of Ronaldo fans.

And, unsurprisingly, many of them fell for it.

The comments were flooded with things like, “They robbed Switzerland,” “That’s a straight red card,” and all the usual accusations.

That made me realize something: a lot of these people don’t actually watch the matches. They check the final score, then rush online to repeat whatever refereeing conspiracy is trending against Argentina.

What’s funny is that, by reacting the way they did, they admitted it was a reckless challenge worthy of punishment. Yet when the exact incident happened in the actual match, there was no foul, no yellow card, no red card. Nothing. And almost everyone stayed silent.

Why? Because the decision didn’t benefit Argentina, so it didn’t fit the narrative.

They don’t know what actually happened in the game. They simply repeat whatever their favorite content creators tell them, people who often push agendas without evidence and invent stories to fuel engagement.

The result? Misinformation spreads like wildfire, and countless fans repeat it without ever questioning it.

A truly shameless fan base.
