We’re also thrilled to announce our acquisition of Proof Diagnostics!

Proof was founded by gene editing pioneer Dr. @zhangf of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, Drs. @omarabudayyeh and @jgooten of the @mcgovernmit, and Sid Shenai to develop a low cost, rapid, easy-to-use, and sensitive diagnostic system – for SARS-CoV-2, Flu A/B, RSV and other diseases, including oncology – using CRISPR-based and other technologies. Proof’s libraries of OMEGA (Obligate Mobile Element Guided Activity) RNA programmable, non-Cas enzymes and associated intellectual property are the key focus of our acquisition.

Proof’s OMEGA libraries will give our customers a new tool to overcome the limitations of current gene editing systems & build the next generation of therapies.

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS -
The National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology seeks a Director of Communications to lead strategic communications and public relations for the Commission. This person will be responsible for developing and executing strategy to develop a narrative for the Commission’s work and identify opportunities for media coverage. Primary responsibilities include: advising Commissioners and Commission senior staff on opportunities to advance the narrative of the Commission’s work; drafting speeches, talking points, and other materials for use by Commissioners and Commission senior staff, as appropriate; developing and executing strategies for managing relationships with a wide range of media outlets; serving as an on-the-record spokesperson for the Commission;  creating and managing a system for tracking and mapping media interactions; as appropriate, working with outside contracted firms responsible for public relations or strategic communications on behalf of the Commission; and other duties as assigned. In consultation with the Executive Director, the Communications Director may travel on behalf of the Commission.

The expected annual salary for this position is $180,000 with eligibility for standard benefits.

The National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology (as established in Section 1091 of Public Law 117-81) will carry out a review of advances in emerging biotechnology and associated biotechnologies. This review will include the methods, means, and investments necessary to advance and secure the development of biotechnology, biomanufacturing, and associated technologies by the United States.
