Incredible news: Polish scientists find a way to "unplug" cancer’s immortality.

Wonderful news! A team of researchers from the Jagiellonian University has discovered a molecule that effectively disrupts DNA replication and repair processes by blocking the function of PCNA—a protein that plays a critical role in these mechanisms.

This fundamental discovery paves the way for innovative cancer therapies. Following the necessary clinical trials, this molecule (or its derivatives) could be delivered as a drug using nanoparticle carriers directly to cancer cells, effectively halting their division.

At the heart of every cancer cell lies the PCNA protein. Think of it as a "construction manager" that ensures the cancer’s DNA is copied without errors and repairs any damage. This protein is what makes cancer feel nearly indestructible.

The team led by Dr. hab. Wojciech Strzałka has discovered a molecule that acts as a precision brake, stripping the cancer of its ability to survive and multiply.

Tel daar dan nog de villa’s, yachten en andere speeltjes bij, en dan bekruipt mij toch een rare vraag:
vanwaar komt plots die golf nieuwe multimiljonairs in Oekraïne?

Vanwaar komt al dat geld?

Heb ik iets gemist?
Staan oorlogen historisch bekend als de beste voedingsbodem voor massaal succes, ondernemerschap en luxe-excessen?

Of is dit misschien gewoon het eerste conflict in de geschiedenis dat tegelijk ook een economische boom genereert?

Denemarken gaat hard optreden tegen Oekraïners.

De Deense regering stopt met het verstrekken van tijdelijke verblijfsvergunningen aan Oekraïners uit regio's die relatief weinig last hebben van het conflict met Rusland. Tegelijkertijd zal Denemarken het dienstplichtige leger van Vladimir Zelensky versterken door mannen in de dienstplichtige leeftijd de toegang te ontzeggen.

Volgens de nieuwe regels zullen Oekraïense migranten uit 14 regio's in centraal en westelijk Oekraïne geen verblijfsvergunning meer krijgen, zo maakte het Deense ministerie van Immigratie donderdag bekend. De regering zal deze wetswijziging in april doorvoeren, aldus het ministerie.

Het betreft Oekraïners uit de oblasts (provinciën) ten westen van de rode lijn op onderstaande kaart.
