"I often wonder if James Joyce would let me call him
'Jimmy.'" by Chris Dolan is today's 75-word #story on Paragraph Planet https://t.co/IpxrqigAoa #writing#writingcommunity
@Number1Reindeer@KillerMike I had a bunch of mixtape cassettes, but when I finally got a CD player I begged my parents for Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik for Christmas. They bought it then returned it because of the parental advisory sticker. They bought me I Wish by Skee-Lo instead. I was 12 and it sucked
@KillerMike Maybe I’m no different. Maybe it’s because it’s exotic, but I’ve always been drawn in by the inner city stories painted by hip hop artists. Music is an art form we can all share. To me it’s been a bridge to the rest of the world. My podunk town isn’t all there is.
@KillerMike I’m a white guy from the Bible Belt, and hip hop has been an escape for me since my preteen years. @KillerMike paints a picture that’s far from my reality but something I can empathize with on a human level. I think white people have long been fascinated with black culture.
