@way_over_Thar@libsoftiktok I graduated from CRHS in 2016 and it was full of blue-haired liberal teachers and far left student clubs. I can only imagine it has gotten worse in the last decade.
Governor @GregAbbott_TX’s new Executive Order GA-56 implements an age gate to ensure people under 21 cannot buy hemp products. There are additional suggested directives that will be addressed during rule making under DSHS.
THBC will continue fighting to ensure Texans have safe, legal access while protecting minors.

We’ve been getting tons of questions on how Gov Abbott’s executive order impacts THCa flower.
Just to be clear, nothing was banned in the executive order, it was simply guidance and recommended changes the governor made to DSHS which has 10 days to begin the *process* of changing and evaluating the current guidelines for the entire industry.
So nothing changes as of today, but if you want to change this policy to prevent THCA from being banned in the future, then you need to get active and work with the rest of the industry to shape this policy!!! 🤘🤘 #texas #news #txlege
The fact that the Lt Gov @DanPatrick would not compromise with an age gate bill and would only be willing to pass a full ban should trigger a state or federal investigation into his corruption. This makes it obvious...

We must start working today to make sure that tyrants like the @LtGovTX@TomOliverson@electcharles are shamed and voted out forever. These corrupt, heartless frauds hide behind the veil of Christianity, while turning their backs on veterans and chronic pain patients. VOTE!!!!
Make no mistake, our work to defeat a hemp ban in Texas began in December of 2024, when we led a team of 50+ people on a tour of the Texas Capitol. We worked with several organizations, lobbyists, activists and legislators along the way, all whom deserve praise and recognition, to create the paradigm shift we see happening with cannabis in Texas. When we talk about the history of ending cannabis prohibition in the USA, we will talk about this collective effort in Texas by Texans. #txlege
It’s after midnight, and the Texas Legislature has passed HB 8.
This bill won’t kill the STAAR test, it will triple the number of tests our kids have to take in TX.
Join me in calling on @GregAbbott_TX to VETO this bill & actually kill the STAAR test like he promised.
#txlege
@brianeharrison Thank you for fighting for us and with us! Without you, most of us wouldn't know how much time and effort are wasted daily during these sessions on unnecessary special-interest bills. Property tax was priority no. 1 for the people, but not for the #txlege.
As the only TxLege Republican who consistently opposed the Texas Senate’s ridiculous, progressive, big government, liberal, nanny state hemp ban…
I couldn’t be happier that it’s officially dead…
And…
Couldn’t be angrier at the time wasted on it instead of property taxes!
This is what happens when Texans speak up for what they believe in. We said no hemp bans, and we meant it. We will vote accordingly going forward. Anything in the future related to hemp will be highly scrutinized. You chose pride over an age gate and common sense.
After long discussions last night between the Governor, Speaker, and me on THC, and continued hours of discussion today, we were not able to come to a resolution. I appreciate the effort by Gov. @GregAbbott_TX to find a solution. I thank Speaker Dustin @Burrows4TX and Republican House members for joining the Senate in passing a complete THC ban during the regular session. My position remains unchanged; the Senate and I are for a total THC ban.
After passing our remaining bills on the July 4th flooding, the Senate will adjourn Sine Die this evening. #txlege
NEW: Lt. Gov. @DanPatrick says #txlege was unable to reach a deal on a THC ban, & the Senate will adjourn sine die tonight. The House has signaled potential intent to take up a bill that’d prohibit hemp sales to Texans under 21 — but it won’t really go anywhere w/o the Senate.
@brianeharrison At least HB 36 makes sense. This bill should have been seriously considered when it was filed. Now, the #txlege is just trying to get something through on hemp.
@AmericanGirlnTX Any new hemp regulation must be airtight and support adult consumers. HB 36, as written, is a good bill to get hemp out of gas stations and make it inaccessible to minors. This is one of the agenda items. A hemp ban is explicitly against the session agenda.
Exactly. We beat back @DanPatrick ’s scam this round — but let’s be clear: if @GregAbbott_TX or anyone else tries it again, 2026 ends their career in Texas. We’re single-issue voters now, and we don’t forget. #HB309#TXLege
