To end our last full day, students that made Threes and Fours were able to throw some pies at the administration. Fun and excitement was scattered about the classes along with the whipped cream on our administrators. Thanks, students for all your hard work.
We are so proud of our students! Our third, fourth and fifth graders that scored a 3 or better on the EOG were entered into a raffle for a bike and two scooters. The students whose names were drawn were announced during awards day today. Congratulations students, great job!
Our kindergarten students were presented with their awards and graduation diplomas yesterday. We all remember our own precious moments in school and yesterday was one for our kindergarteners. Congratulations kindergarten students, and we can't wait to see you in first grade.
The Summer Math Challenge is a FREE math program designed to help kids retain math skills learned during the previous year. The six-week program is designed for students who have just completed grade 1 through 8. Attached is a flyer in English and another in Spanish.

WCS will be closed for students at all schools except for the early colleges and open for staff as an optional teacher workday on May 16 in response to the high number of projected staff absences. Many staff members are planning to attend an education rally in Raleigh.....

On Friday, May 11, students from the Whirlikids Club capped off the club experience with a trip to the NC Museum of Art. Students were given a tour with a focus on forces of nature. The experience was unforgettable. Students left the museum with a greater appreciation for art.
Meet our new principal, Principal Whaley. Principal Whaley was our top seller during our candy fundraiser. He raised over $300 for our school. We are thankful for his sales and will be at ease to know that he is on the job today. Hold it down, Principal Whaley!
Our Renaissance Achievement Awards were given out yesterday to students who had good attendance and good grades for the past nine weeks. Students were honored in the multi-purpose room with a ceremony and certificates. Way to go Bobcats! Keep up the good work!
The Leadership Club recently took a field trip to the National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC. To be leaders, students had to accept the potential for failure in the sight of success and the potential for success in the sight of failure. We are proud of our future leaders.
Our 5th graders visited Darden Middle yesterday to get an introduction to 6th grade. Tonight, Darden Middle will be hosting 5th Grade Parent Night from 6 pm until 7 pm in the Darden Middle auditorium. Parents of 5th-grade students are invited out to learn more about Darden.

The Wilson County Sheriff's Department will be hosting the https://t.co/8gECdIYTuD.S. program this summer. It is a community-based program developed at the Sheriff’s Office and focuses on gang, drug and violence prevention.
