@GotoMerry5498@zavaluh619@yyeatcopter zoro fought SO THAT THE REST could escape. franky literally one shot a vice admiral and was protecting bonney. you don't have to like vegapunk, he's a nuanced, well written character. you might be due for a reread even though it's the most recent finished arc lmao.
@GotoMerry5498@zavaluh619@yyeatcopter ^ not to mention all the outside narratives that were going on at the same time, garp coby and kuzan's conflict, law, kidd, boa, etc
@GotoMerry5498@zavaluh619@yyeatcopter egghead isn't really meant to be one of the "everyone gets a fight" arcs. kuma, kizaru, bonney, and vegapunk are what make the arc generational for me
@desmoxs@V_Caelum jjba is my top 2 and i do believe sbr and stardust crusaders specifically has better handling of its themes and character writing than OP does currently, but that's 2/9 parts, im judging the entire series as a whole
@zavaluh619@yyeatcopter bangers pre timeskip: baratie, arlong park, drum, alabasta, jaya, skypiea, w7, el, impel down, mf
bangers post: dressrosa, wci, wano, egghead, elbaf
pre ts has more top tier arcs but the post ts arcs are longer so
@desmoxs@V_Caelum you switched over to the themes, which is what i was discussing in the first half of the comment above. if you're trying to say the story/narrative is basic middle school level reading, i have nothing to say to you other than to reread or watch an analysis on youtube or smt lol
@desmoxs@V_Caelum Like I said freedom isn’t the only theme, just the main one. There’s plenty to dissect in the subtle writing oda utilizes in other themes or more specific things like power systems, characters like kaido who’s entire character is built on understanding the subtext in his dialogue
@desmoxs@V_Caelum there are nuanced themes in one piece like how oda handles romanticism, censorship, and state governed police, but the theme of freedom is deliberately simple so that anyone can read, understand, relate to, and enjoy it. would it be freedom if a 7 year old couldn’t understand it?
@desmoxs@V_Caelum it's not only luffy or gear 5 that represent freedom. robin requires freedom from believing her existence is a crime, blackbeard requires freedom without responsibility, doffy represents freedom understood as entitlement. the theme is explored in every character.
@desmoxs@V_Caelum one piece is leading up to joyboy's unfinished promise being fulfilled through luffy's inherited will and bringing the dawn on a fragmented world controlled by an oppressor. it’s leading toward the world itself undergoing the liberation we’ve watched individual characters undergo
@desmoxs@V_Caelum should've specified, by "overarching narrative" im talking more about the grand story from beginning to end and what it all leads up to/how it connects. themes are a different convo, and i dont think nuanced = better. freedom being such a basic concept is what makes it work in op
@_greatfeild@SerbiaToppDemon Every single time any streamer calls a woman pretty or anything like that the chat spams “minor” even if the woman is like 40 lmao, it’s just a thing twitch people do so Kai wanted proof
