@Tweet86@lehtipiffi@Arthus92@CapnSwiss@Eurovision I like the idea of ranking all songs and scoring each aspect — this could easily be recorded and published for transparency too. I think the 1-8/10/12 pts is still valid, it's really just a reflection of the top 10.
@lehtipiffi@Arthus92@CapnSwiss@Eurovision Also: Swedish public awarded Finland 12. Finnish public awarded Sweden 0. Finland scored public points from every other country. Sweden also scored public points from every other country — except Finland. A 100% public vote would be atrocious.
@lehtipiffi@Arthus92@CapnSwiss@Eurovision Public opinion is easily swayed, it becomes less about the song (and the staging, choreography, performance). Turning EV into one big chart show would lose the other aspects.
@IspeciPaSeci @lehtipiffi@Arthus92@CapnSwiss@Eurovision They're not — that isn't necessarily a case to ditch juries but reform them. Bring in policies for transparency and encourage objectivity. Difference of opinion between juries and public is vital to EV.
Finland was hardly robbed of #Eurovision. Sweden came 2nd in public vote, 1st jury. Scrapping the jury vote is not the answer just because the public vote didn't win. It makes sense to split the vote between different groups looking at different criteria.
@ThaGuus And yes, there is absolutely an argument about juries giving political points. But that suggests a reform of the jury vote itself rather than scrapping it.
@ThaGuus Doesn't that suggest the juries are looking at something the public is not, and vice versa? A difference between opinions isn't stupid, unless we understand the motivation behind each group of opinions.
@bbceurovision For the love of any hope of hosting again, get a multi-stage national selection show together for next year. Minimum of 12 acts, prime time, over a few weeks.
@Arthus92@CapnSwiss@Eurovision Dear lord no. There's an argument for a change in the weight towards public vote (60/40, 66/33), but a 100% one has a lot of weaknesses.
@MarkM92252942@PoliticsJOE_UK Northamptonshire, Croydon, Thurrock, Slough... Liverpool isn't the only council to suffer trouble. Although of those five, only one is Labour.
