1/ I'm a cardiologist. I've practiced for twenty-five years, through a lot of "breakthroughs" that turned out to be press releases. So understand the weight of what I'm about to say: I have never seen a single week in medicine like the one we just lived through.
In the span of a few days, four separate scientific breakthroughs landed. The stock market treated them as four unrelated stories and sent a handful of biotech companies soaring. But that's the shallow read. Look closer and they are not four stories at all. They are four faces of the same story — the biggest shift in medicine since the discovery of antibiotics.

Medicine is becoming programmable. Individualized. Written for one human being instead of the average of millions.

Let me walk you through exactly what happened, in plain language, and show you where this is actually headed. Because the future arrived quietly this week, and most people scrolled right past it.

@circuscenter is a #SFBayArea #nonprofit that brings the joy and fitness of circus to people of all ages. This #GivingTuesday, can we count on you? Let’s #BuildaBiggerTent!

SF gym/restaurant/bar owners: is there any medical exemption to the new vaccine requirement for *customers*? I really can’t find anything except a vague reference to possible exemptions to state/federal laws

[Barry Kendall @barracudasf]

@minal_hasan I needed to hear this today

@michelletandler Not defending this person, but “rhetoric?” Oh do “say more,” Michelle, please do tell us how Republicans aren’t *really* institutionalizing voter suppression and worse. Let us see how far you’re willing to go.

[Barry Kendall @barracudasf]

Thank heavens

[The San Francisco Standard @sfstandard]

JUST IN: @SFUnified will require vaccinations for its approximately 10,000 staff, according to a press release.

SFUSD employees will be required to be fully vaccinating starting Sept. 7.

@tar_xvzf @cultofJT @sf_dtd @SFUSD_Supe @AliMCollins Yeah, not a good look, but it takes a really crappy politician to keep finding so many creative ways to shoot herself in the foot

[Barry Kendall @barracudasf]

@tar_xvzf @sf_dtd @SFUSD_Supe I noticed this too. Means I will need to lobby my child’s principal for maximum compliance with these protocols…

[DEI speedwagon🌹🇵🇸 〽️ YES on B&I, NO on 43 @uhshanti]

Nora Ephron herself would not have romanticized NYC like this

[Barry Kendall @barracudasf]

@sf_dtd @SFUSD_Supe Thank you. I will have to ask about my child’s grade school and whether/how much they will be eating outside.

[Barry Kendall @barracudasf]

I’m having a hard time with the idea of sending my 7yo back into @sfusd grade school because I can’t imagine how eating lunch in a crowded cafeteria can be safe.

“Post a picture of yourself as the leader of an underground organization without downloading anything new.” I had nothing for this! So…?

[Barry Kendall @barracudasf]

@everyone_alone @michelletandler @lndsypgpndltn @Garrag4 Nah I just like to read serious thinking and analysis, don’t put much stock in opinionated tweeters who can’t be bothered to cite a fucking source
