So fun to facilitate a workshop bringing #thinkingclassroom strategies to our ELA teachers! We explored using hexagonal thinking, shades of meaning, word matrices, meaning maps, & more as thinking tasks to build vocabulary analysis + understanding. ๐#johnsonpride@pgliljedahl
Ss using a variety of visual fraction models to collaborate and grow their understanding of equivalent fractions. Tricky stuff! Proud of their critical thinking and perseverance! #johnsonpride@MLCmath#4thgrademath
Recess engineering!! Last indoor recess, Ss were frustrated building this chain bc when blocks were accidentally hit, the whole thing came down. Today, they tried again, adding in โstoppersโ every 10ish blocks until they finished. Brilliant redesign! #stem#fourth#johnsonpride
Our classroom was โbuzzingโ with buzzing today! ๐คช๐ Ss explored the question: โhow can a battery cause a buzzer to sound?โ through hands-on circuit building. Yay for developing connections that will lead to a deeper understanding of energy transfer! #johnsonpride#STEMscopes

Love bringing word study into our math classroom!! Ss made allll the connections today as we created meaning maps. We followed this w/ a ratio table & dabble into metric conversions & the audible realizations were so fun. ๐ฅฐ๐ #johnsonpride#iteachmath#elemmathchat
Another super dyad mtg yesterday!
I โค๏ธusing the @ApertureEdu lesson โSettled + Ready To Learnโ w/ @rulerapproach to identify distracting feelings, discuss how they may impact us, & prepare to regulate them using personalized strategies. So empowering for learners! #johnsonpride
LOVE using @pgliljedahl#thinkingclassroom strategies w/ error analysis to deepen studentsโ math reasoning & understanding. Room was buzzing w/ math talk! Ss were engaged in deeper thinking & begged for more! Next, Ss analyze their own errors on graded posttests. #johnsonpride
Lots of amazing collaborative work happening in 4th grade math: finding factors & multiples, identifying prime & composite numbers, and learning new math work place games to stretch & grow our math thinking skills. ๐ช#JohnsonPride@MLCmath

Celebrating these 4th graders, who each mastered one or more of our class @IXLLearning Challenges last week! Way to build those MATH MUSCLES!! ๐ช๐๐ #JohnsonPride#BuildingMathMuscles
More @rulerapproach charter work today! Our dyad wants to feel safe, happy, included, supported, and confident. What will that look like in our room? What will that sound like? Students used #thinkingclassroom strategies to collaborate, discuss, & consolidate ideas. #johnsonpride
โIโm noticing that all the even numbers except 2 have more than one array.โ โIโm noticing & wondering why 1 is on its own color poster.โ Using our factor posters to discover prime & composite numbers, and adding a new strategy to our toolbox: the โfactor rainbow!โ #johnsonpride

4th graders collaborated to create factor posters today! They built arrays using tiles, cut them out on grid paper, then labeled dimensions & equations to represent them. Tomorrow: what do you notice? What do you wonder? Prime & composite, here we come! #johnsonpride@MLCmath
