An Edmonton baker creates a new item called the “cro-mi” — a croissant with bánh mì-inspired fillings.

An influencer who previously collaborated with him and promoted his bakery years ago, but stopped after getting freebies, now DMs him saying the name and fillings don’t accurately represent bánh mì. She tells him to rename it and that he should have used a Vietnamese creator to promote it instead of a white one.

The relationship had already soured after an old disagreement. Vinny of Better Baker YEG responds while working in his kitchen, calling it an attempt to cancel a small business for not selecting creators based on race.

This is what happens when a baker who just wants to sell sandwiches runs into identity politics in 2026.

My mom looked at my Trump sketch and said, “Don’t post this on X. People hate Trump… and you’re already a disabled woman using a wheelchair. What if you get 0 likes and 0 retweets? What if nobody supports your art? You’ll only end up disappointed.” 💔😭

Her words really hurt because I know she was trying to protect me. But I decided to finish my sketch anyway. ✏️🇺🇸

Maybe she’s right… maybe this post will get ignored.
Maybe it really will get 0 likes and 0 retweets.

But if my mom is wrong, I want you to prove it. ❤️

I believe artists shouldn’t stop creating just because people might disagree with the subject. Some people may dislike Trump, while others may appreciate the sketch and the work behind it.
