My father taunted me as a child, calling me a soda bottle because my interests fizzled out in every new task I picked. That thing, now diagnosed as ADHD. I'm finally no longer offended.
@teaventi_ Hedonic adaption. One no longer wants what they have. The stoic philosophy has something important to offer in this regard. Negative visualization. Imagine losing the person (to death, or other things) on a daily bases, you'll enjoy their company more.
