@Mxolisi78 The trial proceeds on 23 June.
Defence has objected to the admissability of the video evidence, so there is a trial within a trial. The security officer who managed the security system and retrieved the footage is testifying. If I recall there are two more witnesses lined up.
#MidrandMurder Xolani Kunene's family approached AfriForum’s Private Prosecuion Unit after the IO & prosecutor tried to convince them to accept the accused's offer of R500k compensation in exchange for a culpable homicide conviction and suspended sentence. CCTV captured the shooting. Buhle Mabaso is accused of murder.
It is clear to everyone but @Keir_Starmer that we are living under two-tier policing in Britain.
The anger millions of us feel comes from losing trust in our justice system to treat everyone equally under the law.
A Reform government would end two-tier policing.
I sat down with the legendary Advocate Gerrie Nel, the Head of AfriForum's private prosecution unit, to discuss the growing power of private prosecution in South Africa, the Mbalula Dossier, televised justice, the future of holding corrupt politicians accountable, and more.

Why did police believe Vickrum Digwa’s lies about Henry Nowak? Why did they handcuff Henry as he bled to death? Because they are intoxicated with the politics of identity. According to this vile dogma, white men are always bad guys, says Brendan O’Neill

[LISTEN] Shop owners in Escourt, KZN, say they are living in fear after waves of looting swept through parts of the town, forcing many to shut down, with some locking themselves inside their shops.

Henry Nowak was brutally murdered in Southampton, not very far from Fareham & Waterlooville.
But the police initially treated him like the aggressor simply because he was white. And his murderer, Asian.
Hampshire Police’s response has been wholly inadequate given that an innocent man was tragically killed and police officers very possibly put his life at risk.
To me, this looks like racism- against a white man.
I have written to Hampshire Police demanding that the body cam footage be released.
No cover ups.
Public confidence demands full transparency.
@Recon1_ZA Woolworths confirms its two stores were targetted with improvised explosive devices (IEDs). In other words, homemade bombs. No info on suspects, motive, etc.

@Recon1_ZA Someone needs to say something quickly. I am surprised this is not getting more attention.
What were the devices? Is this part of a campaign? Have suspects been identified? Any message for the public?
The silence is a problem.
2 Woolworths bombings/explosions now in 24 hours, and still no confirmation from Hawks or SAPS on what it is that is actually exploding?
When bombs are going off in shopping malls, I'd say that's a pretty big deal.
I do not believe the school has a choice. A firearm is involved, and SAPS must be involved.
Whose firearm is the 16-year-old seen handling? Is it the same firearm he is seen shooting into a tree? Is it licensed? From whom did the 16-year-old attempt to procure a firearm, a Glock in particular?
There is a firearm, or firearms, seemingly available to teenagers.
If it is a licensed firearm, the licence holder must be charged. If it is unlicensed, it needs to be tested for possible links to crimes. In both cases, it must be seized.
These are very serious offences. Consider the cases against Julius Malema, and the four people arrested last week after video emerged showing two women playing around with firearms. The firearms in the latter case turned out to be unlicensed.
And, there is a duty to report in terms of the Firearms Control Act, s120(2)(a): Any person who is aware of the existence of a firearm or ammunition that is not in the lawful possession of any person and fails to report the location of the firearm or ammunition to a police official without delay, is guilty of an offence.
It is deeply disturbing that SAPS has apparently not been approached to open a criminal case, and that the GDE appears content to expose learners, teachers and staff to the risk of deadly firearm violence.
On the information available, there is evidence of the following:
- Voicenote threats to commit a “school shooting” and to “blow this place up”.
- Threats to murder a specific teacher.
(He pleaded guilty to making the threats)
- Text messages suggesting attempts to procure a firearm.
- Video footage showing access to a firearm.
- Footage of the 16yo recklessly using a firearm.
- Footage of the 16yo negligently handling a firearm.
- A history of substance abuse.
- Previous disregard for probationary or suspended sanctions.
This is not merely a school disciplinary matter. It is a potential criminal case that demands urgent police intervention. Why would the SGB and the GDE not immediately approach the authorities? There is a credible threat of a school shooting and can’t be treated as school misconduct.
Remember this case the next time the GDE responds to a deadly school incident and tells the public that they take school safety seriously.
