So, how did the Republicans underperform so badly? Dive into the governor data in any of the Purple States and you will find that if the winner is a Republican he must win a small percent of liberals and a large percent of moderate Republicans and a good share of independents.

You can’t win an election on a Statewide basis in a Purple State if you don’t have a strong positive message that outweighs whatever it is you are running against.

DeSantis governed from strong freedom principles, opposed onerous restraints, and remained true to his conservative beliefs. The moderates and independents in the State of Florida were able to witness firsthand the difference between his governance and those of Blue States.

In 2018, Governor DeSantis won by just 0.4% -- just a few thousand votes out of 8.2 million cast.

The difference between the two is stunning. In 2022, he won by 1.5 million. 19.4% -- an amazing landslide for a State that was so Purple just a few years ago. What changed?

If it wasn’t for Florida, New York, and California, the Republicans would not have a House majority. Florida contributed 4 new seats.
