At the highest level how can a temper tantrum close down the US government again. It is just beyond absurd and again we must wonder at the danger of loose canon power brokers with fingers on nuclear buttons. Surely this has to end soon.

When we look back at this year in history it will be shocking to see the same old cycles of unlearnt lessons. They are obvious to see and don’t require spelling out. What was good ? For me, connecting with old friends, sharing special moments with loved ones and just being alive

Every year as Christmas approaches I see the most beautiful Christmas trees in Dubai malls. How fantastic to live in a country where we all share each other’s special days and festivals. It’s good to remember the lovely things about our adopted home

Apparently the biggest contributor to global warming is beef farming. Let’s all remember what lovely creatures we kill to enjoy our steaks and the untold suffering the poor animals go through for our brief fulfillment. Thought for the day.

Wouldn’t it be interesting to be a fly on the wall at the G20!! Trump v Putin- v Merkel/Macron-with pragmatic Ji, and MBS v Erdogan floating in the wings. What a bizarre scenario. It’s somewhow more like @searchforastar than global politics and the truly serious problems

I am fine and the police were great. I was shaken and a bit bruised but my rent a car is probably finished. It’s a nver ending tale of stupidity

I was involved in my first major accident last night 6 cars. I always rant on about the absurdly dangerous speeding by @taxi drivers here in Dubai and then boom out of nowhere, crawling in rush hour traffic and smashed from behind like a missile strike. You couldnt make it up

I am old enough to remember how hard The UK fought to get into the Common Market (EU) and now we witness the imminent exit. What does it all mean eventually ? It means a sad parting from the places men fought for and died to create unity in Europe

Tomorrow i head back to @Dubai. I am excited to get back to projects in hand and always sad to leave my lovely Phuket despite its many failings. Bring on hummus goodbye to green curry for a while. I wonder if anyone in ‘power’ has come to their senses in these recent days

I am heading back to Dubai and have packed up my small house in @Phuket and saying goodbye for a while. I am renting it out to pursue other destinations. It’s a sad decision but necessary and whoever stays here i hope will feel the same love and comfort as i did

How much more of the inability of governments to make things right can we take. It’s as though nobody ever learned anything. I feel that unless some charismatic human being such as Nelson Mandela arises from the rubbish heap of so called power brokers today, we are finished.

So encouraging to hear words of profound common sense as expressed by @Khalaf Al Habtoor at the recent @Arab / US conference where he looks at many of the serious issues facing the Middle East and talks with logic and intelligence. Very refreshing and satisfying

I am playing golf but thinking about business. Hence and as often, i cannot hit the ball. I think my golfing days are coming to a close. It is the most frustrating game and business preoccupies me far more. So that could be one problem sorted and extra energy focused
