@lastmonsterkid@BDisgusting I've really enjoyed The Last Drive-in. I just canceled my Shudder subscription since it was the only reason I've subscribed for all of these years.
@HighDefDiscNews Unfortunately, along with dirty discs, I've gotten a lot of scratched discs recently. Quality control at these pressing plants has gotten very bad.
THIS MONTH IN DRIVE-IN HISTORY
By March, South Carolina's Monetta Drive-in is generally open for business. There have been three exceptions over the past 75 years: 1) 1967 - the theater was one month away from new management taking over the operation; 2) 2021 - the drive-in was closed due to COVID-19; and 3) 1987 to 1998 - the drive-in was, as the 1986 Twin City News’ ad stated, "Closed For 3 Weeks For Vacation!”
The "vacation" lasted until 1998, when two heroic figures happened upon the derelict drive-in. The screen had holes blown out of it. Thirty-foot-tall pine trees towered over the field. The box office roof had collapsed and the concession stand wasn’t in much better shape. But despite the daunting obstacles presented, the old Monetta Drive-In site had a certain historic, nostalgic charm.
After weeks of determining the owner of the property (the original owner and wife of the drive-in’s founder), negotiations commenced. The owner had a standing offer from a buyer who intended to turn the property into a FREAKING JUNKYARD, but she wasn’t sure if that buyer was going to carry through with the deal. Weekly calls followed from our drive-in heroes assuring her that they were ready to move on a purchase if she decided to sell. Finally, at the beginning of March, she agreed to a contract. On March 6, 1998, the deal closed, and the Monetta Drive-In was on its way to resurrection. A little over a year later, it would spring back to life as The Big MO.
Other memorable Monetta Drive-In March moments include:
March 13, 1955 - Over 250 people waited to see "The Last Time I Saw Paris" but they witnessed a very different show. A storm blew away the screen, toppled a support pole, pushed over 14 cinder block pillars, destroyed the fencing, and shattered the box office windows. One month later, the drive-in reopened.
March 11, 1962 - There was nothing like classic Vincent Price, with a classic Edgar Allan Poe story, in "The Pit and the Pendulum".
March 6, 1977 - "Family Plot" was the last of Alfred Hitchcock's fourteen movies to screen in Monetta.
March 25-27, 1983 - Eddie Murphy's first movie, "48 Hrs." debuted at the drive-in. The comedian would sell plenty of tickets at The Big MO in the early 2000s.
March 27, 2004 - The earliest and perhaps the most surprising sellout in Big MO history was "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed"/"Starsky & Hutch". Scoob's predecessor, 2002's "Scooby-Doo", had scored three big sellouts and laid the groundwork for Scoob 2's early success.
March 6, 2015 - The Giant Peach made its debut. The dream of a giant piece of fruit at the Peach Country drive-in started as a topper for the marquee, then morphed into a rotating icon on the concession stand, and finally landed as the Main Field’s projection booth.
March 21, 2020 - When is a sellout not really a sellout? "The Invisible Man"/"The Hunt" drew 111 cars to Screen 3. However, the field was limited to 50% capacity due to COVID-19 distancing rules. The next day, the drive-in closed for regular operation until May 14, 2021.
The Diamond Anniversary Season of The Big Mo will begin on March 6!

@TrickorTreat831 Can we get a better look at the Hellraiser figures?
I recently got your second wave of Killer Klowns figures, and they're absolutely perfect. I'm blown away by the quality.
@DreadCentral@TrickorTreat831 NECA did a great job with this line already. I'd hoped not to have to re-buy, but the perfect quality of the Killer Klowns line has me convinced. I hope we get The Engineer and others that NECA never released.
Dear Twitter Friends,
The last of the David Lynch Estate items are bring put up on eBay so hopefully even people without a lot of money will be able to partake. There will be some things up for auction and then some things for straight sales. Follow below. There are two things up now just to check to see how the auctions go, but keep your eyes peeled for a variety of things.
