USIBC hosted a distinguished delegation from the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) at our New Delhi office for a high-impact roundtable on Emerging Intellectual Property Issues & Proposed Amendments in IP Laws.
This session was hosted by Dr Brajesh Barse, Director, Lifesciences, USIBC and convened leading global IP practitioners, industry representatives and policy experts for a forward-looking exchange on strengthening India’s intellectual property landscape. The discussion focused on evolving regulatory frameworks, key industry challenges and actionable pathways to foster an innovation-driven, globally aligned IP ecosystem.

The U.S-India Business Council (USIBC) congratulates the U.S. and the Indian governments for putting in place a framework for an Interim Agreement regarding reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade (Interim Agreement).
The framework, as a joint statement said, reaffirms the countries’ commitment to the broader U.S.-India Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) negotiations, launched by President Donald J. Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 13, 2025, which will include additional market access commitments and support more resilient supply chains.
“The Interim Agreement between the United States and India will represent a historic milestone in our countries’ partnership, demonstrating a common commitment to reciprocal and balanced trade based on mutual interests and concrete outcomes,” the statement said.

3. Optimization of powering infrastructure including renewables to ensure optimal CapEx & OpEx particularly for power producers, which may significantly impact PPAs.
4. Adhering to global best practices, standards, benchmarking for data centre operations in view of sustainability, energy efficiency, minimizing environmental impact.
5. Easing regulation, single window clearances, right of way, powering infrastructure across state boundaries, easing barriers for creation of grid level BESS, standalone categorization & single standard across states.

As part of the ongoing USIBC Life Sciences Mission, our delegation had the privilege of meeting Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, DCGI, and the esteemed CDSCO leadership team.
The delegation was led by Dr. Brajesh Barse, Director, Life Sciences, USIBC, and joined by senior representatives from leading pharmaceutical and medical device members companies.
This interaction marked one of the most transparent, constructive, and solutions-oriented engagements we have experienced. Member companies were able to present their regulatory priorities directly to Dr. Rajeev Raghuvanshi, DCGI, and the CDSCO team, and we truly appreciated the clarity, openness, and collaborative spirit throughout the meeting.
We also witnessed quick resolution of some pending issues, demonstrating the commitment, responsiveness, and deep technical understanding that CDSCO brings to India’s evolving regulatory ecosystem.
A special acknowledgment to Dr. Rajeev Raghuvanshi, whose leadership, vision, and continued support for industry–regulator collaboration play a pivotal role in strengthening India’s healthcare and life sciences landscape.

As part of the USIBC Life Sciences Policy Mission 2025, led by Sandeep Maini, Executive Director – USIBC, and Dr. Brajesh Barse, Director – Life Sciences, the delegation had a fruitful meeting with Dr. Rajendra Panduranga Joshi, Additional DGHS, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
The discussion focused on advancing cooperation in genomics initiatives, Global Tender Enquiry (GTE) processes, for pharmaceuticals and medical devices, refurbished Medical device import and fostering innovation in new disease areas.
