I am proud to lay the foundation stone for the Barzani Grand Mosque in Erbil. The mosque will be built entirely by local expertise and workforce, and it will become the largest landmark of its kind at two million square meters.

Throughout Kurdistan’s history, mosques have served as centers of learning and leadership. We hope this mosque will also become a major center for faith, spiritual enlightenment, knowledge, and service to the homeland.

هيواى گه‌ڕانه‌وه‌يه‌كى سه‌لامه‌ت بۆ حاجیانی خۆشەویستى كوردستان ده‌خوازم، خوای مەزن حەجى هەمووان قبووڵ بکات و جه‌ژنيان پيرۆز بێت. لەم بۆنە پیرۆزەدا، با چەمک و واتا قووڵەکانی جەژن لە لێبوردەیی، گەردنئازادی، پێكهاتنه‌وه‌ بکەینە دەرفەتێک بۆ نوێکردنەوەی پەیوەندییەکانمان و کردنەوەی لاپەڕەیەکی نوێ لە نيازپاكى، تەبایی و خۆشه‌ويستى لە ژیان و كاری ڕۆژانه‌ماندا.

جەژنی قوربان لە هەمووان پیرۆز بێت، هەموو ساڵێک بە خۆشی.

I was honored to meet His Holiness Pope Leo XIV @Pontifex today in the Vatican.

I reaffirmed that Christians and all religious communities are not only an integral part of the Kurdistan Region’s history and identity, but continue to shape its future.

I reiterated to His Holiness that protecting their rights, dignity, and peaceful presence in their ancestral homeland will always remain our duty.

I expressed Iraq’s and the Kurdistan Region’s deep appreciation for the Vatican’s moral leadership and its important role in promoting dialogue and coexistence across the world.

I also recalled with gratitude the late Pope Francis’ historic visit to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and extended an invitation for His Holiness to visit Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

We emphasized our shared desire to further broaden ties across various fields.

On the 39th anniversary of the chemical attacks on Balisan, Sheikh Wasanan, and Khoshnawati Valley, we honor the martyrs of this massacre with pride and reverence, and express deep appreciation for the struggle and sacrifice of the resilient people of these areas.

We emphasize that the federal government must provide proper reparations to the brave families of the martyrs and the Anfal genocide campaign.

I welcome the ceasefire agreement between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran. This development represents an important step toward de-escalation, the protection of civilians, and the restoration of constructive dialogue. We appreciate the efforts of all sides that contributed to facilitating this ceasefire.

I hope all parties will uphold this commitment in good faith and work toward a lasting peace that promotes stability, security, and prosperity throughout the entire region.

Kurdish leader @masoud_barzani: ‘Over 450 drones and missiles have targeted the Kurdistan Region since the start of this conflict, including five attacks on the Barzani HQ and yesterday’s attack on @IKRPresident’s residence.’

He says that this can’t be solved by condemnation, calls or cables; Iraqi authorities must decide — either admit they cannot stop these outlaw groups, or defend the state and hold perpetrators accountable.
