🇩🇪 Germany’s rail is collapsing — 9-month shutdowns, ~$940M per corridor, 60% on-time, $2.7B in losses.
🔴 Hamburg–Berlin: closed Aug ’25 → Apr ’26
🔴 Hagen–Cologne: Feb → Jul ’26
🔴 Nuremberg–Regensburg: dark
🔴 Berlin–Hannover: next
This is what decades of deferred maintenance, underinvestment, and Government regulatory red tape can do to both freight and passenger rail.
It also raises a bigger question: where should America buy its rail technology and infrastructure products? Too often, European companies like Germany and France block American products, copy American innovation, and then try to sell it back into our own market.
Not on this Administration’s watch. 🇺🇸
That’s why the 3P Accelerator Program at U.S. DOT matters. Thank you to Secretary @SecDuffy, Deputy @SGBradbury, and FRA Administrator David Fink for:
✅ $2.04B CRISI rail modernization
✅ $1.1B Railroad Crossing Elimination
✅ $5B+ National Railroad Partnership — the “Trump Infrastructure Dividend”
✅ First sweeping NEPA reforms in 40 years
This is how you prevent a Hamburg–Berlin in America: preventive maintenance, private capital through 3P, less red tape, and American-built tech.
🇺🇸 Buy American. Build American. Keep the trains running.

After nearly sixteen consecutive days of engagement across the country, I can attest firsthand that the U.S. Department of Transportation under the great leadership of Secretary Sean Duffy, is fully committed to advancing our nation’s transportation priorities with urgency and purpose.
Our collaborative efforts include the Federal Railroad Administration and the great leadership of Administrator Fink, the Federal Transit Administration, state DOTs represented by AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) under the leadership of Russell McMurry, technology innovators developing advanced sensor systems for infrastructure and rolling stock, and key partners across American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association led by Chuck Baker, Association of American Railroads led by Ian Jefferies, American Public Transportation Association led by Paul Skoutelas , contractors, and Class I railroads.
Together, we are streamlining processes, leveraging innovation, and reducing barriers to accelerate investment in the nation’s transportation infrastructure. Special thank you to Brigham McCown, Steven Lefton, FASLA, PLA, AICP, Tom Maoli and our Chair Gregg Reuben.
I’m blessed to be part of the US DOT Advisory Board and US DOT Team. More great thing’s are headed our way!
Today at FTS, it’s all about the Voice of the Customer and how far we’ve pushed what’s possible in track innovations with AI‑ready technology. With Dynamic Void and Laser Focused Device, we’re capturing true dynamic rail behavior under load in the field—turning deflection and movement into high‑quality data that inspectors can collect in minutes, without shutting down the railroad.
We’re layering on real‑time rail temperature monitoring and buckle‑detect technology so railroads can see how assets, heat, and risk interact in real time, not just in periodic snapshots. That means a clearer path from condition monitoring to predictive maintenance, safer track, and fewer surprises in extreme weather.
And we’re not doing it alone. We’re already working with two top universities in a transit AI and technology hub, bringing our field data together with academic research to build a true AI infrastructure for freight and transit rail. If you’re ready to move from reacting to problems to predicting them, let’s talk about piloting these technologies on your railroad.
Our team lead by our COO Josiah M. Stiemann and CEO Peter Bartek Jr. have been working behind the scenes with Class I railroads and transit agencies, and tomorrow you’ll see why. A new chapter for FTS rail solutions is about to begin.

Ever heard of a “Mini Me”? I’ve got a Mini Me × 2. If I work 50 hours a week, he works 80!! Meet Peter Bartek Jr., MBA, our new FTS Rail CEO — he’s been with me since age 14 when I founded Protran (Sold to HARSCO Rail). He started in the warehouse to marketing and development (10 patents) and after 12 plus years, to CEO. Petey is a rail expert!!, and learning every day.
Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it as a father!! And let’s not forget our amazing COO, Josiah M. Stiemann, who’s been by my side for over six years. Both just turned 30 and are driving https://t.co/DNOTh0ch82 to incredible new heights.
Life in rail never slows down — even when we cross paths in the field from different airports!
https://t.co/ArLCj6haoN — the next generation of rail leadership is here.
Question, any resemblance?? People say we look completely different?
