BREAKING: Boris and Sofia Gurman, 69 and 61, have been identified as the couple who heroically tried to stop the terrorist as he exited his car before the Chanukah massacre in Bondi Beach.

The couple attempted to prevent him from opening fire. After several minutes of struggle, the gunman overpowered them, regained his weapon, and shot Boris and Sofia.

Boris and Sofia’s selfless act of courage will never be forgotten.

May their memories forever be a blessing.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT – FAKE BANK & POLICE CALLS ⚠️

Waterloo Regional Police are warning the public about a sophisticated scam involving fake calls and emails from individuals posing as bank representatives and police officers.

On October 18, a Waterloo resident was contacted by scammers claiming to be from Scotiabank and the Toronto Police Service.

The suspects used spoofed phone numbers, official-looking emails, and pressured the victim to surrender bank cards via a “courier” under threat of legal consequences.

Thankfully, the victim contacted their financial institution and police before any financial loss occurred.

Remember:

🚨Verify before you act. If someone claims to be from your bank or a police service, hang up and call the official number listed on your card or the organization’s website. Never rely on caller ID alone - it can be spoofed.

🚨Never share personal information via links or texts. Banks and police will never ask you to click on a link to verify your identity or provide passwords, card numbers, or PINs via email or text.

🚨Look closely at email addresses. Official agencies do not use free email services like Gmail or Hotmail.

🚨Trust Your Instincts. If something feels off - pressure tactics, threats of legal action, or urgent requests - pause and verify. Scammers often rely on fear and urgency.
