@AndrewBrethauer In a perfect world, I agree. Unfortunately, I'm too far removed from university life in Canada so I can't speak to that, but in Sweden there are stricter rules when it comes to professors intellectual property. So pre-recorded lectures in my program were usually a no-go.

@AndrewBrethauer With that said, some professors faired better than others. The best ones changed the formats of their lectures for digital. For the most part, you can't just take the same lesson plan and put it online. You need to add more interactivity and plenty of breaks.

@AndrewBrethauer While I agree with your sentiment and I think health safety should be first above all else, as someone who just finished masters classes I can say there are clear differences between in-person and online lectures. 3-hour + lectures online can be hell and I find it hard to focus.
