Cyber Awareness: The Need of The Hour

Glad to unveil the trailer of ‘Operation 1930’, a cyber awareness film on Digital Arrest, and the ‘1930 Cyber Anthem’ at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, today.

Cyber fraud is becoming a growing concern as mobile phones, online payments and digital services have become an integral part of our daily lives. While technology has made life easier, it has also created new ways for cybercriminals to cheat people.

Cybercriminals often pose as police officers, CBI officials or judges and frighten people into believing that they are facing legal action. They may also use fake calls or claim that drugs have been found in a parcel. Citizens should not give in to such fear or pressure. There is no such thing as a ‘Digital Arrest’.

If you become a victim of cyber fraud, the first few hours are extremely important. Reporting the fraud immediately on 1930 can increase the chances of stopping the money from being transferred further or recovering it. Any delay can make recovery much more difficult.

Creating awareness is one of the most effective ways to prevent cyber fraud. Films, short videos and social media content featuring popular actors, artists and singers can help take this message to a wider audience. The 42-minute awareness film ‘Operation 1930’, along with short clips and reels, can help spread this message across social media.

With the growing use of Artificial Intelligence, new challenges such as voice cloning, deepfakes and fake audio and videos are also emerging. Maharashtra Cyber is working to address these challenges, and continued public awareness and cooperation will be important in making our digital lives safer.
